As part of the Biologics Product Development group, the Sr. Systems Engineer will have an exciting opportunity to utilize their systems knowledge to contribute to the design and development of solutions that give Molecular Devices a unique position in the life sciences market. This role requires thorough understanding of system design and system integration tools and methodologies to bring together pieces from across the different functional elements i.e. Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Fluidics, Optical engineering. This position will lead the development and review of engineering requirements, perform systems integration and test, and provide technical direction and guidance for projects from conception to completion. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and have a strong, multi-discipline technical background with direct experience in the development of instrumentation for use in laboratories.
Design and conduct system level characterization and verification of complex systems; collect, organize, analyze, and document test results.
Lead/perform integration of analytical and performance related elements with mechanical hardware, electronics, and software.
Lead/perform definition of product requirements, system architecture, risk analysis, and system verification and validation.
Develop and conduct experiments utilizing scientific methods and DOE principles
Lead/perform risk assessment.
Assist in the design and implementation of system, hardware and software solutions for product enhancements, new product development, and critical sub-systems.
Demonstrated ability to apply an expert understanding of systems to issues in order to bring tasks to resolution within assigned projects.
Demonstrated ability to effectively integrate information from varied disciplines including Systems Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Software.
Have basic working knowledge of optic principles. Experience with fiber optics is a plus.
Strong analytical skills, use of data to drive decisions, including Design of Experiments.
Strong preference for candidates with previous experience in regulated industries (medical, industrial, automotive, etc) and product verification and validation.
5 years of related systems engineering experience.
Bachelor's degree or above in Engineering, or Science.
