Our client is a world leading manufacturer of Factory Automation Equipment and Control Systems for a broad range of industries. They have a team of Systems Engineers with expertise in Automation Systems, Motion Control, and Coordinated Drive System design and programming. These systems use state-of-the-art industrial PLCs, HMIs and Vision systems with integrated safety. Our client is a Certified Solution Partner for Siemens using Simatic PLCs and HMIs in addition to Simotion Motion Controllers and Sinumerik CNCs. They are also an Automation System Integrator of Rockwell products with expertise with Logix PLCs, CIP Motion and Kinetix / PowerFlex 755 Drives with Integrated Safety.

We are recruiting for a Senior Systems Engineer with an engineering degree and demonstrated competence in programming and control system design. This position will provide you with the opportunity to utilize and expand your competence with Siemens and Rockwell automation products, along with various other manufacturers of industrial drives, controllers, vision systems and robotics.

Type: Direct hire, full-time position, 20-30% travel
Location: Vancouver, WA
Pay Rate: DOE

Responsibilities include:

  • Design of Factory Automation and coordinated drive systems including hardware integration and programming using off the shelf industrial automation hardware and drives.
  • Work with Electrical Engineers to develop multi-sheet schematic packages using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineers to optimize system performance and machine process state sequencing to provide intuitive machine controls.
  • Provide training to users in the operation and diagnostics of the systems you developed.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering
  • Expertise in motion control implementation and trajectories
  • 7 to 10 years design experience in industrial machinery applications
  • Demonstrated competence in programming and control system design
  • An excellent grasp of engineering fundamentals,
  • Willingness to work in a team environment
  • A passion to apply his/her knowledge to the development of automated industrial machines
  • A desire to travel to customer facilities for installation and commissioning of systems is a requirement. Travel is approximately 10 weeks of the year depending on project mix and location.
  • Previous experience with different automation development environments is a plus
