The Senior Systems Engineer position is responsible for the design, build and operate functions of Ovation's on-premise VMWare environment and Microsoft O365 environment. This includes design, configuration, as well as policy and compliance management corporate end-user endpoint systems, server and storage infrastructure. This position will also be a proactive participant in administering Ovation's Office-365 and Azure environment.

This position will report into Corporate IT and collaborate Ovation's security and business owners to provide guidance for technology solutions to support Ovation's business goals and objectives.

Travel required up to 5% to 10% of the time as needed

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Works collaboratively within Corporate IT to identify and implement the most optimal IT solutions for the company.

• Operational management of corporate on-premise infrastructure (VMWare, Windows server, Active-Directory and Azure AD/Azure AD Connect) in accordance with company security guidelines.

• Operational support of on-premise Active Directory infrastructure and services.

• Deploying and debugging cloud initiatives as needed in accordance with best practices throughout the development lifecycle.

• Training teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training as required.

• Employing exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to see and solve issues before escalating into problems.

• Identify, document and implement policies, procedures and when appropriate, automation/scripting (ie: PowerShell, etc..) to mature current IT systems and services.

• Lead and develop best practices for end-user, server and storage solutions and services.

• Build and design infrastructure services with a cloud focus, along with implementing the set-up of recovery and continuity services.

• Orchestrating and automating cloud-based platforms throughout the company.

• Stay current with industry trends, making recommendations as needed to help the organization innovate and excel. Creates and maintains solution design and workflow documentation.

• Creates and maintains system and solution standards, policies, and procedures.

• Works with vendors to obtain quotes based on approved designs.

• Works with Ovation IT leadership is support of annual budgeting activities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Experience with on-premise server, storage and/or cloud-based services, preferably Azure.

• Experience working with scripting languages (ie: PowerShell, Python, etc.).

• Microsoft Active Directory Services (Local and Azure-AD)

• Strong awareness of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and distributed networks.

• Database experience a plus.

• Understanding of open-source technology, software development and system engineering.

• Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to stay focused on completing tasks and meeting goals within a busy workspace.

• Interest in Cloud Engineering and its impact on greater business practices.

• Skilled at working in tandem with a team of engineers, or alone as required.

• Understanding of cloud infrastructure design and network security as well as an in-depth knowledge of various types of cloud applications and technologies.

• Experience with Visio, Office365 applications, MS Teams collaboration and systems monitoring and management toolsets.

• Experience with executive level communications.

Work Experience, Education, and Certifications:

• Three to five years' experience in a on-premise and Cloud Engineer role or related position.

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering; Master's degree a plus.

• Certification as an Azure Solutions Architect, Cloud Security Certification, and/or OpenStack Administrator Certification a plus. (Other cloud-related certification also a plus.)

• Five years' experience in developing software using languages such as PowerShell, Java, Python, C++ or Ruby.

Working Conditions:
