In Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Systems, you'll help develop systems that sense, control, exploit and disseminate actionable information to warfighters supporting a variety of missions.

The C4ISR Systems line of business within the Electronic Systems (ES) Sector of BAE Systems is looking for a self-motivated and experienced Senior Systems Engineer to support multiple ES projects. The position is located at the BAE Rome NY campus. The Rome campus, established in 1997, provides technical support across several ES Sector projects providing both operations and sustainment support to existing efforts and cutting edge solutions for emerging products. In this position you can expect to analyze complex systems, offering solutions to increase performance and/or strengthen security postures, and design, develop and maintain new systems. Job responsibilities may include:

  • Creation and/or review of systems, software, component, subsystem requirements and operational concepts.

  • Balancing various aspects of a project, most of them complex issues such as architecture and system dynamics.

  • Designing, developing and maintaining systems and software that support business operations.

  • Creating and implementing systems software, to analyzing data to improve existing ones.

  • Maintaining on-premises and cloud applications, servers, storage, and network equipment.

  • Working closely with engineering professionals within the company to maintain hardware and software needed for projects to be completed efficiently.

  • Developing and overseeing all aspects of a complex system to solve a problem, from the initial creation of the system to production and management through the end product or solution.

  • Offering advice on the best hardware and software options to meet specific project needs.

  • Investigating and promoting the use of new technologies.

  • Updating computer software, installing new hardware and troubleshooting technical problems.

  • Achieving efficient and effective results by utilizing an interdisciplinary approach that ensures technical requirements are translated into steps.

  • Establishing milestones for necessary contributions from departments and develop processes to facilitate their collaboration.

  • Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions including materials, manpower and time necessary.

  • Conducting a cost analysis of new projects.

  • Mentoring and training other engineers and seek to continually improve processes companywide.

  • Assisting other department engineers in creating practical demonstrations of proposed solutions and demonstrating them to other members of the team.

  • Providing clear goals for all areas of a project and develop steps to oversee their timely execution.

  • Working alongside project management teams to successfully monitor progress and implementation of initiatives.

  • Identifying the problems that consumers require a solution - providing step-by-step solutions.

  • Participation in trade studies, peer reviews and proposal development activities

Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed fulltime on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • B.S. Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, (or related field) with a minimum of 6 years work experience or:

  • M.S. Degree with 4+ years experience

  • PHD with 2+ years experience.

  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and hold a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.

  • The ability to engage constructively with peers and technical leads to communicate the technical approach, trade-offs, and technical decisions

  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)

  • Understanding and application of modern software development and systems engineering practices, design principles, techniques, and technologies

  • Highly motivated and able to work well in both team and solo settings

  • Experience with developing systems engineering process for planning dev, integration and test

  • Capable of writing detailed test procedures

  • Capable of learning new systems quickly

  • Able to read and follow procedures and flow diagram

  • Experience with Jenkins, Docker, Postman, GitHub/GitLab, Java, Bash, Curl, XML, JSON, SQL, JavaScript, and AWS, C2S

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Must be DoD 8570 compliant - possess current CompTIA Security+ CE certification or its equivalent

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $83900 - $142600

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
