We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer Missle Defense SME.

Provide senior-level Systems Engineering technical expertise and program support for missile system major defense acquisition programs as a key member of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Systems Engineering, Major Program Support Directorate oversight and review team.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and support in the area of Systems Engineering as a key member of a DASD(SE) Major Program Support (MPS) Directorate review team (In particular, identify Systems Engineering-related issues and risks; perform root cause analysis; and recommend issue recovery plans or risk mitigation plans to the Director, MPS Directorate and DASD(SE), SE regarding MDAPs under review)

  • Lead Independent Technical Risk Assessments and Program Support Assessments for major acquisition programs (ACAT 1D). Collect inputs from subject matter experts across all aspects of systems engineering and produce concise presentations of key findings and recommendations.

  • Conduct assessments of program systems engineering technical reviews and produce reports to meet regulatory and statutory requirements.

  • Coordinate with major acquisition programs to develop and implement Systems Engineering Plans to improve program execution and meet DoD 5000.2 requirements


  • Experience working in an acquisition program office and on Service/OSD staff overseeing major defense acquisition programs. Systems engineering management experience with MDAPs

  • Experience with missile defense system development.

  • Expert technical knowledge with missile defense systems (e.g. SM-3, SM-6, AIAMD, BMDS).

  • Experience with Systems Engineering across full DoD acquisition lifecycle.

  • Familiarity with the DoD 5000 series, to include the Defense Acquisition Guide (DAG)

  • At least 15 years total experience, of which at least 3 demonstrate an ability to work and effectively communicate (written and verbal) at the Govern

This program is chartered to provide technical leadership for many of NGA's highest priorities and projects to include systems engineering and architecture analysis and definition for the TCPED-S (Tasking, Collection, Processing Exploitation, Dissemination and Storage) efforts within the Research Directorate. The responsible Systems Engineer will assist the Government Project Manager ensure the TCPED-S is properly developed for a new remote sensing and processing capabilities. This effort will ensure end-to-end baseline definition and interoperability from the sensor through traditional ground and developing cloud architectures. Qualifications: Required Qualifications: * TS/SCI Clearance (with a current SSBI favorably adjudicated within the last 5 years) * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related degree program, or work-related experience that has provided equivalent knowledge * Minimum of 16 full years of experience in Systems Engineering, Systems Integration Systems Architecture, and/or Systems Development * Minimum of 10 years recent Agency specific experience * Demonstrated experience with large-scale systems engineering and architecture analysis and definition working with NSG/NGA or GEOINT Mission Partner systems/segments * Demonstrated experience defining and integrating project schedule information to achieve project milestones and objectives * Demonstrated experience performing risk management and mitigation in order to achieve project milestones and objectives * Ability to work independently and within a team environment * Strong interpersonal, problem solving, organizational and multi-tasking skills * Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills Desired Qualifications: * Masters or PhD degrees in a technical field (physics, engineering, mathematics, IT, Comp.
