Senior Systems Engineer

About the role:

  • This position will include design, development and verification testing of new R&D products. This position involves cross functional collaboration with design teams, quality, and management. The responsibilities include, designing new test methods, assisting with preclinical activities, generating requirements and assisting with transfer to production activities.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Perform data collection and data analysis related to new ablation technologies.

  • Support design, development, analysis and test activities for complex systems and engineering tools. Includes test protocol generation and reports.

  • Assist with preclinical protocol development, execution, data analysis and report generation.

  • Create PDP deliverables for new product development (requirements, risk analysis, trace matrix, design reviews).

  • Help with creation of usability deliverables including formative and summative studies.

  • Hands on activity within the R&D team to support product development and verification efforts and troubleshooting of findings.

  • Ensuring that all interactions and engagements are carried out with the highest ethical and professional standards and that all work is accomplished with quality and in accordance with Boston Scientific values.

What we're looking for:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science. Prefer Mechanical, Material Science or Electrical engineering.
  • 1-2 years' experience working in R&D or system engineering role, preferably in medical device industry.

Projects will include product improvements, test method development and product innovation for next generation devices. This role will utilize a variety of new and proven technologies to deliver life-changing medical devices to patients and clinicians in support of BSC's mission. Your responsibilities include: * Contributing to a strong team culture around high expectations & high performance. * Assisting in technology integration & knowledge transfer within domain of responsibility. * Providing clear communication to stakeholders at key technical updates. * Leveraging internal/external partners as necessary to achieve project objectives. * Partnering with the design & execution of structured experimental plans to drive data-based decisions. * Understanding clinical use cases and user interface requirements to drive design decisions. * Developing novel improvements to products or processes resulting in expansion of BSC's Intellectual Property portfolio in key strategic areas. * Successfully completing engineering work in one or more of the following: technology development, product design and development, test method development, specification development, bench & preclinical studies. * Translating customer needs into product requirements and design specifications. * Working cooperatively with process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing on complex projects to ensure project success. * Training and/or provide work direction to technicians and other engineers. * Designing, developing, debugging, modifying, and testing mechanical assemblies and systems by using current tools, analysis techniques, and technologies. * Documenting mechanical development by writing documents, reports, memos, change requests. Methods used are determined by approved procedures and standards. * Tracking mechanical development effort by creating and maintaining records in the approved tracking management tool. * Solving engineering problems by analyzing the situation and recommending corrective or alternative actions. * Analyzing, evaluating, and verifying requirements, component performance, and systems by using engineering practices. * Investigating, researching, and selecting mechanical components, tools, equipment, and best practices. * In all actions, demonstrating a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to all documented quality processes and procedures. What we're looking for: Minimum Qualifications * BS in Mechanical, Biomedical or Chemical Engineering. * Bachelor's Degree with 0-2 year experience OR Master's Degree. * Strong mechanical engineering and problem-solving skills * Ability to help draw conclusions and make recommendations based on technical inputs from multiple and varied sources. * Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications * Experience in the PTCA or Intravascular Ultrasound. * Lab experience with debugging, fixtures, and test equipment. * Some expertise in design simulation tools, experimental design and analysis techniques.
