Job Summary:

The Contracted Senior Systems Engineer position will work on some projects for six months including Azure VPN client implementation, SCCM server migration from VMware to physical, Microsoft InTune implementation, Microsoft 365 security/compliance review, etc.

  • This is a 6 (six) month contract position.

  • This is a 0.5 FTE position, working no more than 20 hours per week.

  • The position is remote, with the corporate offices based in Seattle, WA.

  • The hourly rate for this position is $90 per hour - $120 per hour, DOE . ETS strives to achieve pay equity and transparency as part of our goal to create an equitable workplace. This position offers no benefits as it is a contract position.

What you contribute to this role

  • Responsibilities:
  • Provide day-to-day support for mission critical servers in production and development environments.

  • Independently resolve issues escalated by Helpdesk Administrator or Helpdesk Technician.

  • Ensure availability of network/servers and application up time in accordance with our IT policies.

  • Effectively manage IT projects, work with vendors, and communicate with stakeholders about project status.

  • Perform system backups and recovery; maintain data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity.

  • Be the SME (Subject Matter Expert) and perform maintenance/upgrades for Microsoft server environments.

  • Review diagnostics and assess the functionality and efficiency of IT systems.

  • Manage and maintain our Azure cloud environments for all virtual machines.

  • Review, validate, and deploy software update during applications rollout to production environment. Support other IT staffs when they need to troubleshoot application issues that might be related to network/server backend.

  • Monitor network/server performance and tune network/server management systems as necessary.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve tier 2 & tier 3 issues escalated by IT Helpdesk Technicians.

  • Configure, monitor, maintain, and manage applications, such as: Microsoft Active Directory, Office 365, Microsoft Defender, and CrowdStrike.

  • Prevent virus/malware infections (including intrusion by hackers or malicious software) in ETS system
    etwork.

  • Be a member of the ETS information security team.

  • Evaluate new technology and recommend hardware, software, and application upgrades to assure the availability, continuity, and security of data for ETS.

  • Use strong communication and collaboration skills to coordinate the activities of IT Department with those of other departments within the organization by conferring with stakeholders at every level; communicate orally and in writing complex issues, conclusions, and decisions.

  • Comply with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, ETS policies and procedures, including ETS Privacy, Security and Compliance policies and procedures, Code of Conduct, and the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA).

Requirements

What you bring to this role

  • Qualifications:

Education and/or Relevant and Experience (if applicable):

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in computer science, information system, or related field is required.

  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or equivalent is required.

Require Knowledge and Skills

  • Azure cloud certificate and experience preferred.

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience supporting servers/network in an enterprise environment

  • 3+ years of Azure cloud configuration and management experience

  • 1+ years of network design and implementation experience

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure Active Directory architecture, Entra identity management, InTune implementation.

  • Cloud Solutions (i.e., Azure AD), Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 - 2022, Active Directory, DNS, TCP/IP protocol required.

  • Skilled with scripting language such as VB or Python a plus.

  • Project management experience preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and verbal/ written communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload, work independently, and complete tasks timely and efficiently.

  • Dependable, able to work under pressure, receptive to change, willingness to learn, cooperative approach to problem solving.

  • Flexible team player, with excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when handling highly sensitive information.

  • Ability to set boundaries, resolve conflict and de-escalate issues.

  • Computer literate, with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, as well as a high level of initiative in keeping current with technological change.

Physical Requirements

  • The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear; frequently required to stand, walk and kneel; occasionally to climb balance, or stoop; rarely to crouch or crawl.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, color and peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
