The Position

The Senior Systems Engineer III is responsible for the development, deployment, administration, and operations of the firm's Infrastructure. This role requires an in-depth knowledge of Azure, AWS, Kubernetes and deployment of infrastructure services using Terraform. The candidate will be part of an Infrastructure Engineering team. The candidate must be a self-starter, demonstrate experience managing projects to completion, and have strong communication skills. This position works very closely with the Infrastructure manager of the Engineering team, collaborates with Enterprise Architects, and various other engineering teams.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop processes and procedures to ensure infrastructure environments maintain the highest levels of availability, security, and quality.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and define project objectives.

• Design, implement, and maintain Cloud (Azure/AWS) infrastructure solutions.

• Develop automated deployment strategies for Cloud resources using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, GitHub, and GitHub Actions.

• Deploy and manage Cloud virtual machines, containers, and serverless computing services using IaC.

• Work with the network team to configure and manage Cloud networking components such as Virtual Networks, VPN Gateways, and Load Balancers.

• Implement security best practices and compliance policies within Cloud environments.

• Stay updated with the latest Cloud services and features and evaluate their applicability to existing and future projects.

• Provide guidance on topics broadly related to information security risk and compliance.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

• Serve as escalation point and provide troubleshooting guidance and direction in resolution of escalated issue and/or complex production, application, or system problems.

• Follow all set procedures and policies pertaining to the Change Management System.

• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure high availability and reliability.

• Develop capacity forecasts for managed environments that are proactive and prevent problems prior to outages.

• Candidate must be able to accommodate schedule flexibility to deal with escalations and occasional changes during non-core business hours.

Required Skills/Experience

• 8+ years of related enterprise IT experience.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Azure services including Compute, Storage, Networking, Security, and Monitoring.

• Experience with cloud infrastructure automation using tools like Terraform, ARM templates, or Azure Resource Manager.

• Strong understanding and experience in supporting AWS services and footprint.

• Strong understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, and routing.

• Familiarity with deploying containerization technologies and container orchestration platforms including Kubernetes, AKS, or Red Hat OpenShift.

• Strong knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation tasks.

• Experience with Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD tools for automated infrastructure build, test, and deployment processes.

• Understanding of security best practices for cloud environments, including identity management, access controls, and encryption.

• Ability to troubleshoot complex issues in distributed systems and implement effective solutions.

• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to architect scalable and reliable cloud solutions.

• Strong knowledge of VMware ESX.

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Operating system administration.

• Enterprise Disaster Recovery implementation and management experience for OnPrem and Cloud environments using Azure Site Recovery and Zerto.

Desired Skills/Experience

• Knowledge of Active Directory and Azure Entra ID.

• Experience with maintenance and administration of VMWare and Cloud (Azure and AWS) virtualized systems and infrastructure.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Non-Windows Server architectures, Virtualization Technologies, and LAN/WAN/Firewall/VPN network technologies.

• Experience with Kubernetes Clusters, AKS or Open Shift.

• Strong familiarity with security issues surrounding network computing and experience in implementation of security systems and controls.

• Effectively use teamwork to contribute to a high morale and high-performance team culture, leading by example.

• Strong skills in prioritization and reprioritization to react to a dynamic environment.

• Infrastructure documentation skills.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for relaying business and technical information to audiences with varying backgrounds including offshore and operations teams.

Education

• Required knowledge and skills typically acquired through a Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.

• Industry specific training and designation is a plus.
