A week in the life of a Senior Systems Engineer:

  • Provide expertise to researchers and assist with technology development (systems engineering/information management).

  • Generate engineering requirements, approach and planning for modernization project.

  • Support risk-cost trades for maintenance versus modernization of VMS control systems.

  • Responsible for multiple infrastructure projects central in the operation of flight simulators at the NASA AMES Research Center.

  • Support various infrastructure projects, to include the design of eVTOL/ACFS cockpits, viseo distribution upgrade, host i/o upgrade and understanding the loading control system.

Job Requirements

Required Education/Skills:

  • BS or MS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience leading complex mechanical, electrical, and software integration environments

Required Expertise:

  • Experience in mechanical design

  • Understanding manufacturing practices

  • Designing strategic planning for mitigating facility risks and facility modernization

  • Experience with high visibility, high-level project engineering/management

  • Experience providing guidance for trade-offs and decision-making regarding meeting engineering requirements

Additional Desired Skills:

  • Working knowledge of the motion simulations or similar capabilities

  • Background in Aviation

  • Computer Aided Design (CAD), SolidWorks

  • MatLab

  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) as well as LabView

  • Foundational experience as a project engineer producing final design products and study analyses and deliverables

  • Good communication skills with staff and with internal and external clients

  • Good organization habits, time management, and budget management

VIEW JOBS 3/14/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-06-12T00:00 Job Title: Senior MRI Systems Engineer Location: Mountain View, California Job Summary We are currently seeking a Senior MRI Systems Engineer for our world class MRI team who will share our passion for conquering cancer and help us develop our ground breaking MRI guided Radiation Therapy system. You will learn our system end-to-end user work flow and understand in detail the connections between performance at the MRI application level with the detailed design of superconducting magnets, gradient coils, RF coils, MR transmit/receive electronics and software and non-MRI system components. The ideal candidate will combine the ability to work closely with other technical experts as a resourceful troubleshooter with the ability to help lead and execute our longer range MRI product strategy from concept to release. This position will report to the Senior Director of Linac and MRI Engineering. Responsibilities * Troubleshoots issues emerging at the MRI application level or higher to root cause in hardware or software subsystems and works with sub-system specialists to address them. * Specifies next generation MRI subsystems and plays leading and hands on role in their subsequent integration, test and release. * Contributes to the creation of a functional architecture for Viewray's MRI system and corresponding requirements and test documents. * Provides external support and technical management of Viewray's manufacturing partners and internal support to Viewrays' installation and field service teams. Education, Experience, Skills * Master's degree or higher in Engineering or Physical Science * 5+ years of formal product development experience on large complex systems with demonstrated understanding of end to end system function and user workflow. * Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex systems with a wide variety of test and measurement equipment. * Experience of working in a rigorous quality system, medical device experience preferred. * Background in formal systems engineering requirements and test. * Experience and understanding of MRI is a major advantage.
