Join our team as a Systems Engineer

  • AEGIS System to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) on the Navy's AEGIS program. Your role will involve researching and documenting the capabilities and limitations of the AEGIS Weapon System, evaluating computer limitations, and collaborating with AEGIS engineers and fleet representatives.

The Systems Engineer

  • AEGIS System position will support the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) on the Navy's AEGIS program in Dahlgren, Virginia. Works with AEGIS engineers and fleet representatives to determine impact and workaround to fleet operators and CIC operations. The CPDD team supports crew briefs aboard ships stationed around the world; therefore, the candidate must be capable of supporting some travel. Travel activities comprise about 10% of work activities, but we are flexible and strive to work with individuals and their schedules.

Responsibilities:

  • Researching and documenting capabilities and limitations of the AEGIS Weapon System.

  • Evaluating impacts of computer limitations on the system, crew, and operations.

  • Collaborating with engineers and fleet representatives for workarounds.

  • Conducting crew briefs aboard ships stationed worldwide.

  • Reviews computer limitations and attends Change Review Boards to evaluate the impacts of computer limitations on the system, ship's crew, and ship's operations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of operational experience on the Navy's AEGIS Combat System.

  • Knowledge of the AEGIS Fire Control System, particularly the Weapons Control System (WCS) and Command and Decision (C&D) function.

  • Qualification at AEGIS CIC Watch station.

  • Knowledge of Navy operations.

  • Assertive representation of customer interests in Change Review/Safety Boards and program-level meetings.

  • Understanding of CIC operations and ability to articulate system capabilities and limitations based on fleet operations and performance against various threats.

  • Provide written and verbal technical evaluations of capabilities and limitations.

  • Develop and deliver oral presentations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AEGIS Test and Evaluation Experience.

  • AEGIS Technical Instructor Experience.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to make presentations to diverse audiences, including high-ranking officers.

  • Ability to work independently and multitask effectively.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must have a current/active Secret clearance.

  • United States Citizen

Physical Requirements:

  • The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while working at a desk or computer.

  • Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets and office machinery or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers via email, phone, and virtual means.

  • Flexibility for short-notice test site support and approximately 10% travel to shipboard or designated Government/Contractor facilities.
