Overview
VTG is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer/Analyst in Washington, DC. The Engineer will provide engineering services in support of NSWC DD's Navigation System Ship Integration Agent. Position is mostly onsite in Dahlgren where customer is located.
What will you do?
Provide time and navigation (T&N) engineering services in support of the US Navy
Review proposed T&N system changes and provide recommendations to approve or make recommendations on how to correct the change. Present T&N system changes to Change Control Boards.
Develop timelines for the introduction of new T&N capabilities on ships meeting required testing, certification, and logistical milestones.
Represent customer interests at system integration meetings. Prepare technical presentations subject and brief T&N systems.
Provide recommended changes to improve performance of navigation subject systems.
Develop system level designs for navigation sensors and users for new ships, new capabilities, and new user systems.
Work with Navy activities to coordinate T&N test events and equipment deliveries.
Review and evaluation navigation system test plans to ensure systems meet requirements.
Ensure that US Navy navigation systems are designed, procured, installed, supported and maintained maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
Develop system level designs for navigation sensors and users for new ships and new capabilities.
Ensure that navigation components are integrated for maximum effectiveness.
Investigate navigation deficiencies and define and execute actions required to resolve the issues.
Develop requirements for navigation system improvements.
Mastery of all junior engineer functional responsibilities.
Mid-level position provides direct support to senior engineers in applying scientific/engineering principles.
Works independently or as part of a team using expertise in electrical, mechanical, aerospace or systems engineering in order to plan, conduct, lead, and accomplish broad range of technical assignments according to specific contract while utilizing project resources efficiently and effectively.
Has direct responsibility in coordinating tasks and ensuring technical adequacy of end product.
Applies knowledge of and experience with technological, programmatic, program management or business fields to support the analysis of moderately complex systems engineering, systems technology, support systems, program management, management or other related programs.
Will be working with Integrated Bridge System (someone who has driven a Navy Ship will know this)
Do you have what it takes?
Required Skills:
Ten (10) years of General Surface Navy Combat Systems engineering experience
Good communication skills, written and oral
Must have an active Secret clearance and ability to sustain one
Navy and Systems Engineering, ship control systems, AEGIS experience
Preferred Skills:
Navigation Control Systems experience
Former Junior Surface Warfare Officer or Submariner (LTJG, LT or LCDR)
Bachelor of Science in any engineering field
Navy Ship driving/pilot experience
