As a Senior Systems Administrator at Penumbra, you will play a critical role in determining the company's long term goals. Working with an international support team, you will be responsible for the daily administration, implementation, performance tuning, and recovery procedures for enterprise systems, both on-premises and cloud based. Serves as a subject matter expert in system administration for complex operating systems. Recommends the redesign and configuration of operating systems and system applications. Systems include (but not limited to): Microsoft Azure IaaS, Office 365 (including Azure AD Premium, MFA, Information Protection), Cisco UCS, VMWare, MS Windows and Linux Server OS, SAN/NAS and enterprise backup services and utilities (Pure Storage and Rubrik data backup platforms). General knowledge of ERP and integration platforms and infrastructure configurations (SAP, Dell Boomi).

What You'll Work On

  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the Penumbra infrastructure hardware and software computing environment by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance, and repair. Applies revisions to host system firmware and software. Works with vendors to assist support activities.

  • Performs troubleshooting as required. As such, leading problem-solving efforts often involve outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations.

  • Establishes guidelines and methods for the installation and management of the host computer operating systems, SAN/NAS, backup/recovery services and other components.

  • Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host computer resources.

  • Enforces established procedures and governance policies to maintain security and protect systems from unauthorized use, acts of nature, and user abuse.

  • Maintains procedures, programs and documentation for backup and restoration of host operating systems and host-based applications.

  • Develops tools, procedures, and training/coaching sessions for Client Support and Applications Development staff to assist with work.

  • Stays current with technological developments in systems administration technology and recommends ways for Penumbra IT to take advantage of new technology.

  • Provides after hours on-call support on a rotation schedule with other team members.

What You Contribute

  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field with 7+ years of enterprise level systems administration and or engineering experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7+ years' experience supporting Microsoft Technologies (MS Windows Server, ADDS/AAD, ADFS, DNS, DHCP, PowerShell, SCOM); 5+ Years' experience supporting the following:

o MS Azure IaaS/PaaS

o MS Office 365 (EOL, One Drive, SharePoint, MS Teams collaboration and voice)

o Linux system administration (RHEL experience preferred)

o Cisco UCS hardware administration

o VMware concepts, including ESX, SRM and NSX

o NAS/SAN administration

o Basic network administration relative to all technologies above

  • Enterprise backup and recovery procedures

  • Ability to: Plan, organize and document complex system design activities and to configure systems to be consistent with institutional policies/procedures; communicate technical/complex information both verbally and in writing; perform multiple tasks concurrently and respond to emergency situations effectively.

  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize assignments while handling various projects simultaneously.

  • Experience in administration of ERP and Integrations platforms (SAP, Dell Boomi)

Working Conditions

General office environment. Willingness and ability to work on site. Potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Requires some lifting and moving of up to 10 pounds. Must be able to move between buildings and floors. Must be able to remain stationary and use a computer or other standard office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine, for an extensive period of time each day. Must be able to read, prepare emails, and produce documents and spreadsheets. Must be able to move within the office and access file cabinets or supplies, as needed. Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information with employees at all levels on a daily basis.

Annual Base Salary Range: $110,312 - $162,609 / year

Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
