Description:The new and growing Space Security business area of LM Space is looking for an experienced, energetic and dedicated Linux System Admin specialist to support and augment projects and programs in system development, design, integration and deployment using industry standards and technologies. The candidate will support a fast-growing set of systems, environments, servers and products which rely on Linux expertise. The selected candidate will become the Linux OS/compute environment subject matter expert for applicable programs. The programs supported will model agile implementation approaches and incorporate state of the art commercial best practices such as DevOps (automated testing, continuous integration, automated deployment, etc), distributed CM, and use modern development tools. The selected candidate will participate in progressing system capabilities from early tool selection and infrastructure design through site acceptance with a focus on software reuse, COTS/FOSS integrations, and cloud technologies. As a member of this high-performing group the selected candidate must be passionate about their trade, focused on mission and system quality, and supportive of timely delivery of features and capabilities. The successful candidate must demonstrate effective communication skills.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Relevant Linux Sys Admin experience

  • Cloud / Server / Infrastructure Virtualization (Design, Support, Integration)

  • Linux System Infrastructure, Administration, Development and Maintenance

  • Cloud/Virtual Environment Setup, Config and Engineering

  • Networking and Hardware Knowledge

  • Experience with IT systems test, deployment, and/or configuration for enterprise applications/usage

Desired Skills:

LDAP

PKI (or similar secure certificate technologies)

IP Networking

Hardware Integration

Scripting Languages (PowerShell, Python, etc.)

This position provides moderate support for the company servers and communications infrastructure. Taking ownership of day to day operations, and leading various local or global projects with limited scope. This role is responsible for maintaining a functional, reliable, and cost effective technology environment for the areas assigned and assisting or leading in identifying the potential for adding value and improvements to the business systems Key Responsibilities: * Provides primary support through daily operations for the following but not limited to IT functional areas: Server installation/build automation, patching and configuration. * Provides all aspects of Red Hat Linux Server administration for applications in a corporate critical environment. * Provide RH Server support for the manufacturing sites. * Assist vendors with software installation on Linux Servers. * Knowledge of PowerShell, sFTP, ADFS, SCCM, and Networking is a plus. * Provides technical expertise in the areas of system design, installation, configuration, tuning, capacity planning, troubleshooting and problem resolution. * Available for on call 24x7 support at the beginning, later on be part of the following the Sun support organization. * The ideal person for this position will be considered expert or knowledgeable in the previously mentioned areas with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, have the ability to provide leadership and mentoring, and work within a collaborative team environment. * Responsible for operational execution / maintenance of applications within infrastructure areas. * Completes tasks within a defined timeframe. * Ensure effective problem analysis and resolution in a timely fashion. * Escalates issues when needed to appropriate levels of IT / business. * Effectively solicits and gathers requirements (user, business process, performance requirements, etc.) from business users using appropriate mechanisms and following CSL standards. * Translates business requirements and designs effective solutions. * Develops (configures / programs) and unit tests solutions based on CSL standards and SOPs. * Participates as necessary in the validation matrix role to independently test and validate solutions to ensure fulfillment of all business requirements, compliance of regulations and quality of solutions. * Effectively follows global IT procedures and policies are followed consistently as defined by the Quality Management System.
