We are hiring senior engineers to work on the CUDA driver, a core component of our platform for accelerating general purpose computation on the GPU. Our team delivers features and improvements to better realize the potential of NVIDIA hardware for a growing range of computational workloads, ranging from deep learning, scientific computation, and self-driving cars to video games and virtual reality.

CUDA defines a unified programming model across a range of system configurations and hardware capabilities. To accomplish this, the CUDA driver interacts with GPU hardware, kernel mode drivers, and the operating system.

What you'll be doing:

As a member of our team, you will use your design abilities, coding expertise, and creativity to deliver the best compute platform in the world. You will craft elegant solutions to exciting problems and craft the future direction of CUDA as you collaborate with your peers across NVIDIA.

  • Evangelize, architect, and implement new features

  • You'll oversee and drive development efforts across multiple teams

  • Help define forward-looking improvements to the CUDA APIs and programming model

  • Write effective, maintainable, and well-tested code

  • Develop code for multiple operating systems

What we need to see:

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, with 5+ years of related development experience

  • Strong C programming skills

  • Experience working with large codebases

  • Background with operating system interfaces for threads, process control, and virtual memory

  • Experience writing and debugging multithreaded programs

  • Good written communication

  • Deep understanding of technology and passionate about what you do

  • Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills, specifically a proven ability to effectively guide and influence within a dynamic matrix environment

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • You have an understanding of system level architecture, such as interconnects, memory hierarchy, interrupts, and memory-mapped IO

  • Knowledge of memory coherence and consistency models

  • Experience with kernel mode development

  • Background with Windows, Linux, or macOS driver development

  • Some familiarity with C++

As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will help solve a variety of technical challenges and mentor other engineers. Responsibilities: * Participate in the development and maintenance of embedded Linux systems and cloud infrastructure and related tools * Work with other team members to investigate best design approaches, prototype new technology and evaluate technical feasibility * Collaborate with the manufacturing team to simplify software deployment and maintenance * Participate in on-call rotations and support of critical systems * Ensure high quality of delivered software by writing tests and participating in the code review process * Mentor and help develop junior engineers, and demonstrate best development practices * BS in Computer Science or related technical field * Proficient in C++, Java or other statically compiled language * Experience with at least one scripting language such as Python, Ruby etc. * Knowledgeable in shell scripting (e.g., bash) * At least 5 years of experience as a key member of an engineering team * Deep understanding of Linux internals and administration * Solid system design skills * Experience with the SW development life-cycle (Agile processes, testing) and related tools (e.g., Git) * Experience in IoT, embedded software systems and AWS * Familiarity with security solutions for embedded systems (e.g., secure boot, secure elements, filesystem encryption) * Knowledge of networking protocols and support * Experience working in start-up mode building products and services from the ground up * Comfortable working in a cross-functional team and learning about new technologies Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
