  • Follow rigorous methodology to perform system-wide performance characterization of existing robotic systems.

  • Define specifications and take charge of the design of our next generation sensor and actuator systems.

  • Design control and observer algorithms for existing and future electromechanical systems.
  • 5.
  • Work concurrently with electrical, design and manufacturing engineers as systems are being developed and finalized.

  • Work with functional safety team to ensure compliance of product to international safety standards.


  • 1.
  • PhD or MS with equivalent experience, in robotics-related field.
  • 2.
  • 5+ years of practical and/or theoretical knowledge of at least two of the following concepts: a) Linear/nonlinear control theory, b) Control of redundant robotic systems, c) System modelling and identication, d) Robot safety standards, e) control of complex electromechanical systems.
  • 3.
  • 3+ years of experience in software development in C/C++ for embedded systems and relevant version control tools (SVN, Git, Mercurial).
  • 4.
  • Good knowledge and intuition of robust and adaptive control strategies.
  • 5.
  • Strong system analysis skills using MATLAB, python or other relevant tools.
  • 6.
  • Good project management and excellent communication skills.

    VIEW JOBS 10/13/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-01-11T00:00 Job Description Senior System Engineer will work on * the development of fundamentally new, complex metrology instrumentation from concept-to-product, to be integrated into high volume semiconductor fabrication process * introduction of new metrology techniques into production environment via direct participation in use case development and performance optimization at customer site * the continuous improvement of existing NOVA metrology systems, including use case extension (applications), characterization and documentation The candidate will interface with multifunctional groups (including customers) to ensure the smooth development and deployment of new solutions and capabilities across all product lines. He/she must be able to define and specify - in detail - the operational flow of the entire system, including probe formation, data capture, sequencing and processing, ending with customer level metrology results. Job Requirements * Proven record of deriving detailed, multi-level specifications for complex measurement systems and overseeing/supporting their full implementation * Ability to work independently on system architecture analysis, error budget and documentation * Ability to lead engineers and scientists from a wide range of disciplines toward system design, integration and characterization * Work with contractors through disciplined management of requirements, schedules and budgets * Interface with customers and solve complex, new metrology problems either by extending the capabilities of existing tools or proposing new system design * Familiar with statistical techniques to quantify performance both at sub-system and production level * Good personality to fit into NOVA MMD's culture of o close, informal collaboration o open knowledge and information exchange o technology-focused, result-oriented development environment Skills Familiarity with materials metrology and/or analytical techniques is a plus. Knowledge of materials properties, especially for thin film fabrication, is desired. Practical experience in charged particle and/or x-ray systems is a strong advantage.
