Job Functions and


Diagnose and resolve problems of server hardware and operating systems. Troubleshoot and resolve problems with computer hardware, software (COTS and or custom applications), and peripherals. Build new systems (desktop/laptop/servers), install, maintain, and configure computer hardware, software, and peripherals, including researching vendor documentation to resolve problems. Maintain inventory of computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment. Install software/system patches on a monthly basis. Determine feasibility of desired customer requirements and detailed steps involved in troubleshooting and resolving customer issues. Obtain detailed specifications from users to determine specific output requirements. Act in compliance with Federal, State, local, NASA, and Air Force laws and regulations and requirements and KSC/CCAFS energy management conservation regulations, collective bargaining agreements, security, safety, hurricane and other specialized programs or contractual requirements. Additional support activities may include, but are not limited to: account management, server configuration management; system security; data backup and recovery; event log analysis; disk space management; installation of software patches; server and network device troubleshooting; certificate authority management; setup, configure and deploy new server platforms.
  • Bachelors degree in a related field plusa minimum of 5years of related experience.
  • Experience in Windows Server 20xx administration.
  • Experience installing and configuring IIS.
  • Experience with virtualization technology and SAN.
  • Knowledge of load balanced applications and Microsoft clustering.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and managing Linux systems preferred.
  • Possess the ability to work in a diverse customer service environment.
  • Must have outstanding communication and inter-personal skills.
  • Assignments are broad in nature, complex and requires originality and ingenuity.
  • Able to work independently or under general supervision and may train lower level personnel in technical complexities of assigned work.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills are essential, along with the ability to remain calm under pressure while working in a focused manner.
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification is desired

Education: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience. Qualifications: 5-8 years of directly related experience in network administration and support. Responsibilities: * Install and maintain MIS systems and equipment, monitor system performance, and utilize test equipment to correct problems. Perform system maintenance to ensure everything operates correctly with minimal interruption. Recommend direction for system architecture based on traffic requirements and technological evolution. * Work together with the Implementation Coordinators, System Engineers, and Field Operations to troubleshoot and resolve persistent problems and escalated Tier 2/3 issues. * Ensure all authorized / demand maintenance requests and work notifications are responded to and or submitted on a daily basis. * Accept assigned Operations and Maintenance launch/project lead responsibilities and manage/execute the tasks assigned in a timely and accurate manner. Ensure system security requirements are monitored and met regularly. * Professionally interact with customers, provide courteous support, and be proactive in follow up with additional feedback and ticket updates. * Adhere to the safety and security practices at all locations to include customer areas. * As a team member; maintain cooperative work relationships/ customer relations. Demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for, a diverse working environment. * Deliver customer support both in-person and over the phone in a professional manner and ensure customer satisfaction. Must possess an appropriate and current DoD Information Assurance (IA) Certification to be considered for employment; either valid CompTIA Security+ CE, Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)-Security. CompTIA Security+ CE Certification is the preferred certification. In addition, candidate must attain the required DoD 8570 Computing Environment (CE) Training within six (6) months of Hire Date. Due to the sensitive nature of the work performed for this government customer, candidates must have a TS/SCI with Polygraph. As part of your role/function on the program, you will be granted privileged user access. Privileged Users are subject to greater scrutiny as a direct result of the significant responsibilities placed upon them.
