ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior System Administrator (Lab Lead) to join our team the Reston, VA area to provide unparalleled support to our customer and to begin an exciting and rewarding career within ManTech. The Senior System Administrator (Lab Lead) will support multiple federal agencies through the Continuous Diagnostics & Mitigation (CDM) Program. The CDM Program is a high-profile, high-visibility, cybersecurity modernization and risk management program where you can contribute innovative solutions and consult with many different federal agencies to enhance their Information Assurance (IA) programs and continuous monitoring capabilities.

The Lab Lead [Sr. System Administrator] will manage, operate, and maintain the Continuous Diagnostic and Mitigation (CDM) DEFEND E Lab infrastructure environment. This is a hands-on role, with duties split between executing configuration activities within the lab, documenting the lab resource reservations, and planning and forecasting for lab growth. The Lab Sr. System Administrator will also develop and maintain all images, including network devices, for all infrastructure devices in support of the CDM Solution stack.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervise and participate in the installation, configuration and maintenance of physical and virtual servers for a large scale testing platform on-premise and cloud based.

  • Provision and decommission lab accounts

  • Collaborate with team members on a regular basis to maintain consistency in design and implementation

  • Ensure the stability, availability, and reliability of the lab, providing timely notification of any concerns or outages

  • Integrate new deployments, technologies and virtual equipment into the lab environments

  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures

  • Create and modify scripts as needed to automate repetitive tasks

  • Provide operational support to development and test community

  • Monitor system performance, system/security logs and identifying potential issues

  • Attend project meetings to gain insight on future lab requirements and conduct status meeting to notify management of potential constraints, conflicts or

  • Develop business cases, justifications, and analysis of alternatives to support recommendations or investment in expansion of lab infrastructure and capabilities

  • Establish, test, maintain and document baseline configurations

  • Perform routine capacity management functions to provide insight into current and forecasted consumption and work with Service Design to develop long-range projections of capacity needs for storage, compute and processing capacity.

  • Maintain awareness of technology roadmaps and end-of-life

  • Maintain "gold standard" images for all servers and end point devices

  • Coordinate with Service Design engineering team to support the testing of new services and network equipment

  • Provide operational support to development and test community

  • Attend project meetings to gain insight on future lab requirements and conduct status meeting to notify management of potential constraints, conflicts or

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, electronics, engineering or other technical discipline is required.

  • Five years' experience in supervising and participating in the installation, configuration and maintenance of physical and virtual servers both on-premise and cloud-based.

  • Experience with provisioning and decommissioning accounts, managing security policy via Active Directory GPO

  • Experience collaborating with team members on a regular basis to maintain consistency in design and implementation

  • Experience developing and executing plans to ensure the stability, availability, and reliability of the lab, providing timely notification of any concerns or outages

  • Experience developing and maintaining standard operating procedures

  • Demonstrated ability to create and modify scripts as needed to automate repetitive tasks

  • Experience monitoring system performance, system/security logs and identifying potential issues

  • Experience leading, motivating, and evaluating the performance of a team of 2-5 full-time administrators, as well as 1-3 part-time apprentices or interns

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Eight years of additional, relevant experience may be substituted for education requirements

  • Knowledge of emerging cybersecurity technologies

  • Experience modeling data, message, and service interoperability

  • Understanding of technical, operational, and management issues related to design, development, and deployment of complex and distributed systems

  • Understanding of interrelationships between critical infrastructure protection and cybersecurity

  • Familiarity with DHS Cybersecurity programs such as Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM)

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+) Certification

  • Knowledge and experience with Assessment & Authorization (A&A) processes in Federal environments, preferably with experience utilizing the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) for complex systems or networks

  • Powershell knowledge is a benefit

Security Clearance:

  • US Citizenship is required, due to the security requirements of our client. Individuals with dual citizenship may not be considered for this role.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Directs maintenance and administration activities within the Rackspace Cyber Security infrastructure and provides an intermediate level of technical support to the ISOC/Racker over the phone, chat and/or via support tickets. Applies creative problem-solving techniques to identify the source of problems, while at the same time keeping the ISOC/Racker aware of resolution progress via the ticketing system. Uses initiative and advises on potential pitfalls that a Racker may experience using existing or planned methods and suggests alternatives that may better serve the stability for a security requirement. Proposes and implements system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the security systems. Solves end user's technical issues which can include OS level, webserver, database server, security applications, DNS, SMTP, user management and permissions, or other software issues. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITY: Strong knowledge of servers/computer hardware and software. Working knowledge of platforms or systems used for: SIEM, Packet Capture, SSL Decryption, Malware Detection, IDS, Network Monitoring Tools, Ticketing System, Knowledge Base, Web Security Gateways, Email Security, Data Loss Prevention, Anti-Virus, Network Access Control, Encryption, Vulnerability Management. Strong working knowledge diagnostics with UNIX and Windows tools. Strong knowledge of network fundamentals.
