Senior System Administrator Infrastructure

Manager Compute Platforms


Help architect and manage Infrastructure solutions (on premise and off premise) Under moderate guidance, to support the business needs of the Big Data Analytics space. Collaborate with Information Services team members on standard administration tasks, such as backup and recovery, patching, upgrades, installation, configuration, disaster recovery, meeting performance service level agreements and managing server & storage architectures.


  • Help implement and maintain infrastructure platform to support Big Data Analytics space

  • Implement and support system performance monitoring, troubleshooting, alerting and testing

  • Continuously evaluate new technologies, innovate and deliver solution to meet business requirements

  • Create and maintain thorough documentation (Standard Operating Procedures) for all job-related activities, including disaster recovery procedures.

  • Collaborate with Information Services team members and business community to strengthen our partnership.

  • Implement industry and Smucker best practices.



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
  • MIS or Computer Science Degree preferred


  • 5 or more years of IT experience is required

  • 2 or more years administering Big Data (Machine Learning, Deep Learning, AI) systems required

  • Strong hands-on Unix/Linux administrations skills required

  • Strong hands-on experience with automation/scripting (bash, Perl, ruby, python) is preferred

  • Hands-on experience with Big Data Frameworks preferred:

  • Hadoop Distributions (Cloudera, Hortonworks, MapR)

  • Spark

  • Yarn

  • HDFS

  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools preferred:

  • Jenkins

  • Conda

  • Chef/Puppet

  • Ansible

Position Overview The IBM iSeries (Power8) Systems Analyst will be primarily responsible for the maintenance and administration of IBM iSeries (server), including message handling, command line utilities, work management, job and print control, device management, file transfer integration, management of 3rd party who provides: system configuration, system security, backup and restore, and PTF management. Support ERP and accounting applications. Support integrations, data transport, WebSphere/WAS applications and end-user technical issues. Experience with change management tools helpful Responsibilities * Provide technical assistance and support for incoming requests and issues related to iSeries system, iSeries application software, and hardware. * Assist in installation, configuration and maintenance of IBM iSeries hardware, software, networked devices, journaling, and IBM iAccess software. * Develop, document and maintain procedures for system utilities such as incident corrections, backup/restore, performance tuning, WAS admin and configuration of environments as well as incremental backups/restores as required. * Read and interpret RPGLE code, SQLRPGLE , COBOL and CLLE to identify issues * Administer IBM WebSphere (ND) 7.4 - 8.5.5 and higher, WAS 7.x to WAS 8.x * Assist with load and test operating system and application software releases and fixes in both development/test and productions environments; load application software patches; monitor system performance and file tuning using utilities as needed. * Provide support of iSeries applications, APIs, and web services and web applications * Perform system audits. * Facilitate routine IBMi backups and restores with tape library and/or virtual tape lib. * Maintain and troubleshoot IBMi IP printers, remote printers, and scanners. * Assist with software & hardware maintenance and support subscriptions/renewals. * Assist with PCI Compliance, Security, & other Audit requirements * Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, work involves multiple platforms. * Serve as an escalation for Help Desk staff. * Analyze system, server, application, network performance. * Recommend, schedule, and perform software and related system improvement, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases. * Develop, document, and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for system administration and appropriate use.
