Position: Senior Survey CAD Technician

S&ME, Inc., a leading design, engineering, environmental and multi-disciplined professional services firm that responds to their clients with innovative, sustainable solutions, is seeking a full-time Senior Survey CAD Technician for our Orlando, Florida location. The selected candidate will join a successful, busy office of engineers, planners, and landscape architects in support of public and private sector projects throughout Florida and surrounding states.
The candidate will work with professional staff engaged in various duties including processing field data, trouble shooting field data, performing deed and utility research, running traverse closures, reducing level notes, finalize survey drawings, and performing work with field crew. The position requires good basic math skills related to surveying, good verbal and written communication skills and the motivation to follow instructions completely and accurately while working in rough terrain and inclement weather. Essential functions and responsibilities include:
Read and interpret survey maps, construction plans and utility plans;
Perform QA/QC checks on work performed;
Compute, process, and map field data in an organized manner;
Communicate and coordinate effectively with other members to facilitate the timely and accurate completion of assigned projects;
Observe all safety guidelines and procedures, particularly when working around traffic or on active construction sites.
HS diploma/GED diploma required, Associate's or Bachelor's degree in land surveying, GIS, engineering, or related field preferred;
5-10 years' experience working in land surveying required;
AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Carlson Survey software experience required;
State residency and land surveying experience preferred;
Requires good verbal and written communication skills;
Ability to work extended hours, including Saturdays and ability to travel out of town for extended periods of time;
Candidates should be able to handle extremes of outdoor work conditions in all seasons;
Must be familiar with the basic types of land surveying and terminology, and be knowledgeable about the field duties;
Stand, walk, use hands, tools, controls, reach with arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as well as lift and/or move up to 50-75 pounds.
This is a full-time position with competitive pay based on experience. Successful candidate must meet requirements of the company's Fleet Management Program, Substance Policy and Reference Check program.
