Responsible foroversight of substation engineering and consulting services for clients acrossthe US and internationally. Main responsibilities include leading others increating electrical protection & control and/or physical layout designdeliverables. Projects range in size, complexity, and voltage class from smalldistribution equipment upgrades to large transmission projects. This positioncan influence the future of the resiliency and reliability of the electricgrid. Opportunities to advance into leadership/management roles areavailable.

Positionmay include full or partial responsibility of the following assignments:

  • Lead in preparation of proposals and scope development,including:

  • Conceptual designs and execution plans

  • Engineering/project cost estimates and schedules

  • Leadin the execution of engineering activities:

  • Physical substation design including yard layouts,plans, sections and details, grounding, lightning protection, controlbuilding arrangements, interior and exterior raceways, auxiliary AC/DCpower systems, and associated bills of material

  • Protection and control design including panelarrangements, one lines/single lines, three lines, AC schematics, DCelementaries, equipment wiring and relay panel wiring

  • Calculations for studies and reports (grounding,lighting protection, AC/DC load studies, etc.)

  • Equipment specifications for procurement and/orfactory acceptance testing

  • Lead coordination of design activities with otherdepartments (Civil/Structural, Networks, Transmission Line, etc.)

  • Developand improve processes, tools and/or technology implementations

  • Provide leadership, training and mentoring to lessexperienced engineers and team members

  • Regularly meet and correspond with clients or outsidepersonnel

  • Performquality reviews for other engineers and designers

  • Provide short term field support during construction

  • Support business development and marketing initiatives

  • Other areas of involvement may include: relay settings,3D modeling/design, or industry/professional technical committeeinvolvement

  • Bachelor's degree in ElectricalEngineering from accredited program

  • Minimum 7 years relatedexperience (completion of master's degree in related field may besubstituted for one year of experience)

  • ProfessionalEngineer registration strongly preferred

  • Proficiencywith National Electrical Safety Code and IEEE / ANSI Standard

  • Strongpreference for those with:

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Capability of solving difficult problems that requireadaptation and modification of standard approaches, techniques,procedures and criteria
