This position will support the university's Department of Computer Science (UTCS), which boasts a top-ten ranking from US News and more than 4,500 students across all programs. This intersection of quality and size places UT among the most significant intellectual hubs for computer science research and education anywhere in the world. UTCS has a close relationship with Austin's thriving tech culture and works at the forefront of fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, quantum computing, and cybersecurity.

Purpose

The Student Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of student organizations within the department, managing the undergraduate scholarship program, serving as undergraduate travel coordinator and assisting with special projects and department events. The Student Program Coordinator will work on a larger team of academic staff committed to establishing a supportive and welcoming environment for all UT Computer Science students.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Student Organizations: Provide leadership to the department's student organizations to include financial oversight, programming and logistics of events, and marketing and communications. Oversee financial management of all student organization programming. Ensure proper processing of all financial and policy documentation related to student organization and undergraduate programs (enforcing budgets, processing reimbursements, official event approvals, invoicing and tracking of corporate gifts). Develop student organization funding initiatives. Develop training materials and lead training sessions for student leaders. Manage student workers.

  • Manage Undergraduate Student Programming: Serve as undergraduate travel coordinator, including advising travelers on travel policies and reimbursement requirements as needed, and selecting participants to represent department at conferences. Represent department at STEM conferences. Participate in planning and coordination of new student summer orientation and related programs for incoming first year and transfer students. Assist with planning and preparation for special departmental events including summer programs.

  • Manage Undergraduate Scholarship Program: Responsible for administering, tracking, and selecting recipients for undergraduate scholarships. In coordination with the Office of External Affairs, manage the stewardship of department endowments including donor thank you letters project.

  • Assist with Curriculum Implementation and Evaluation: Serve as secondary contact for departmental course scheduling and room reservation system. Assist as needed with course instructor surveys, procuring syllabi, verifying course grades, final exams scheduling, and the collection of data for reporting to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Manage timesheets for all undergraduate proctors.

Required Qualifications

Bachelors' Degree and five (5) years of experience coordinating education programs. Excellent interpersonal, communication skills, and demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a variety of audiences. Ability to work independently and participate as a team member. Detail-oriented with outstanding organizational and time-management skills. Advocate of STEM academic and career paths.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in program coordination at UT Austin. Experience coordinating broadening participation programs. Working knowledge of UT Austin policies and procedures.

Salary Range

$58,000+ depending on qualifications

Employment Eligibility:

Retirement Plan Eligibility:
