Lead and participate in the design and analysis of offshore installation equipment and pipeline related ancillaries (for flexible pipes, umbilicals and rigid pipelines). Some examples of such equipment and activities include: pull-in systems, vessel deck layouts and seafastening, support frames, lifting aids, pre-commissioning hardware, working platforms, C- Plates, general handling heads, bumpers, stanchions, etc. This position is based in Houston, TX in the Engineering Department of the Subsea Projects Engineering organization (within Subsea Projects Value Stream).
Responsible for the detailed design and design reporting of scopes of work as detailed above
Liaise with the drafting and design department for preparation and checking of detailed engineering drawing package delivery
Work in collaboration with TechnipFMC Global Engineering Centers from other regions of the world.
Ensure that the schedule established with the project team and client for delivery of the structural design documents and drawings is accomplished
Supervise and guide junior engineers through the design and analysis process
Ensure compliance with the established design rules and procedures within the TechnipFMC Group as well as applicable industry codes and standards
Strong communication skills are essential, including the ability to interface with the project team and other design engineers
Integrate experience gained from previous projects into the design of new projects
Maintain, develop and protect Company know how
Define all quality control requirements and acceptance criteria for related discipline
Liaise with Project Managers and client for manufacturing, quality control and establishing acceptance criteria and other technical aspects
Liaise with the Installation Group
Follow the structural package from concept design all the way to delivery to the project
Travel to worksites (fabrication yards and vessel mobilization location) and provide technical support and guidance.
Position Qualifications and requirements
Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent (eg structural engineering, naval architecture or other)
5 or more years of experience as a Structural Engineer preferably in the offshore oil & gas field.
PC word processing, MathCad and spreadsheet software
Experience with beam element software
Prior ANSYS and/or ABAQUS experience preferred
Good working knowledge and understanding of offshore hardware & construction and pipeline installation practices
Basic understanding of applicable structural design codes and industry standards, vessel motions and seafastening practices
Basic structural welding knowledge
Effective English Oral and written communication
Ability to manage changes or work scopes
Ability to work in a fast pace environment
