Your Opportunity

Stantec's Southern New England Transportation group has an immediate need for talented, team focused Senior Structural Engineers with a minimum of 10 years of experience in bridge engineering and design. The positions are flexible in location between Burlington, Quincy, or Boston Massachusetts offices, as well as our Bedford, New Hampshire or Providence, Rhode Island offices. This position is for an individual with 10 years design experience looking to challenge themselves on a professional level on a variety of transportation projects. We are looking for Structural Engineers who excel in working in a team environment and have a passion for the work that they do.

The successful candidates will join a growing team of transportation professionals and contribute to the design component of roadway and bridge projects throughout Massachusetts and New England.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • The majority of work will include bridge projects for departments of transportation and municipalities in New England.

  • Key duties include preparation of plans, specifications, design calculations, load ratings and cost estimates for DOT and Municipal clients.

  • Tasks would include but not be limited to performing bridge analysis, design and geometry calculations, developing drawings, and performing condition inspections and reports.

  • Position also entails preparing engineering reports and technical studies, and assisting on other projects, as needed, including construction phase services support and field work.

  • Guide and mentor junior staff

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Experience with MassDOT required

  • Prior consulting experience and established client and agency contacts are desirable

  • Strong client interaction and relationship skills

  • Registered PE in the state of MA, required

  • Bridge inspection and load rating experience preferred

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Master's preferred.

Minimum of 10 years of bridge engineering and design experience

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

The engineer ensures that all design features are consistent with functional performance and safety requirements for aircraft systems and standard manufacturing practices. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Review requirements for new equipment capabilities and develop tooling and test fixtures to ensure repair station meets or exceeds the manufacturers requirements. * Research and document alternative parts and materials according to established acceptance criteria. * Provide hands on instruction and assistance to technicians in troubleshooting and testing of new and current units. * Communicate and work closely with the Original Equipment Manufacturers, outside vendors, FAA Designated Engineering Representatives, and customers to resolve engineering related issues. * Reverse engineer, design, and develop certification documentation for alternate part approvals. * Design repairs for components with damage and obtain regulatory approval for such repairs. * Build and maintain positive and professional relationships with internal and external contacts. * Exercise discretion and sound judgment in product design decisions to ensure requirements are met and the highest level of flight safety is maintained. * Create and present design reviews to other team members and management. * Perform other duties as assigned. * Report to work on a regular and consistent basis. REQUIRED ABILITY TO: * Deliver targeted results. * Know and use Air Carrier manuals and publication systems as well as FAA Regulations Parts 145 and 21 and related Advisory Circulars. * Build alliances, partnerships and collaboration with co-workers in a tactful, professional, and respectful manner. REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE * Bachelor Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution or any combination of education and experience to demonstrate proficiency. * Evaluated having advanced knowledge and ability to exercise discretion and judgement. * Experience with SolidWorks CAD software. * Experience with LabVIEW, or equivalent system design software DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE * Three or more years of experience in an engineering position within a FAA Part 145 Repair Station or equivalent. * Three or more years of experience in Aerospace Repairs or PMA development * Familiar with electromechanical components such as motors, switches, actuators, etc. * Experience in the design, evaluation, and testing of automated test equipment * Familiarity with: aviation industry, aircraft knowledge, technical documents, and basic aircraft electrical/electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and structural concepts and systems.
