Primary Purpose
Functions as an expert in well and reservoir integrity assessment on the SIMP Assessment team. Primarily focuses on gas storage well and reservoir integrity assessment, cased hole inspection tool (cement bond log [CBL], magnetic flux leakage [MFL] ultrasonic thickness [UT] and through-tubing) data interpretation, burst pressure modeling [Barlow, API RP 579 Level II, and/or equivalent burst pressure models]), creation/implementation of research projects to define inspection tool performance and limitations, development of novel approaches to well integrity assessment, and risk and threat identification.
Duties & Responsibilities
Takes a leadership role in further development of the Company's gas storage well and storage reservoir integrity assessment programs. Reviews current Company practices, industry practices, and identifies opportunities to improve gas storage well integrity assessment. Reviews, develops, and provides input on novel tubular inspection tools and methods; conducts field tests and leads research projects to improve storage well integrity assessments.
Performs gas storage well integrity assessments and supports reservoir integrity assessments performed by Underground Gas Storage. Performs remaining life (RL) analyses of natural gas storage wells, based on interpretation of cased hole inspection data and engineering-based procedures.
Reviews cased hole inspection data and utilizes reservoir engineering/geoscience experience to identify potential causative factors for corrosion growth and works with other departments within Integrity Management to determine potential mitigative and preventive measures.
Supports the development of the SIMP Assessment program. Develops and provides input on Company Gas Standards, specifications, and procedures.
Participates in and provides technical input to review of proposed changes to codes and standards. Recommends modifications to Gas Standards to reflect regulatory changes. Represents the Company's interests on industry committees regarding codes and standards.
Stays abreast of the latest changes, trends, and technological advancements in the industry through attendance at conferences and seminars, continuing education, literature, etc. Educates SoCalGas management on latest trends.
Provides technical expertise within the department and Company. Provides technical advice to junior staff members and reviews technical results, evaluations, and analyses.
Performs other duties as assigned. (5%)
