Senior Sterile Processing Tech

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Sterilization and Instrumentation Resource Performs duties independently, works proficiently without supervision and helps train new employees in all aspects of sterile processing to include the decontamination, preparation packaging sterilization and sterile storage while adhering to department policies and procedures. Operates and trouble shoots the equipment specific to Sterile Processing but not limited to steam, eto, hydrogen peroxide, automatic endoscope reprocessor, cart washer, washer/disinfector, ultrasonic cleaner, heat sealers, storage carousel as well as variety of testing devices.
Team Orientation
Uses appropriate communication with all others in order to provide needed instrumentation; anticipates customer needs and achieves by meeting work production standards (set by Management) and facilitation of teamwork; facilitates orientation of new staff members; follows Attendance guidelines; practices time-management skills including on time arrival to work area, return from break and mealtime, completion of work by shift end, minimal personal telephone calls; available for Call, After hours, Weekend, and Holidays.

Participates in staff and self development meeting/in services.
Proficiency in utilization of instrumentation tracking system.
Maintains a clean orderly work area.
Demonstrates safety awareness.
Works with specialty surgical instrumentation.
Participates in at least one process performance initiative .
Participates in at least two approved educational classes/seminar.
Maintains professional competences and certifications.
Education
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Diploma from an approved Sterile Processing Program.
Experience
Two years hospital-based sterile processing experience. With preferred education, no experience required.
Licensure/Certification
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) by the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA). Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Technician (CSPDT) by the Certification Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc. (CBSPD). Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
