Generac is seeking a Sr. Staff Battery Engineer to contribute to Generac's home standby battery systems. As a member of our team, you will shape the direction of next generation renewable energy products at Generac. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and select battery cells for home energy storage technology

• Define module/pack level capabilities at the limit of capability

• Design industry leading $/kW, $/kWh, roundtrip efficiency, thermal performance and SOH performance metrics

• Create battery, system, and mission profile models

• Build cell/module testing capabilities and operate cell/module characterization efforts

• Minimize designed parts based on first principles

• Architect a 9540A compliant vent system

• Design and perform validation tests for cell/pack robustness

Minimal Qualifications:

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent in experience with evidence of exceptional ability.

• 7+ years of system design experience on (1M+) volume products and 5+ years in an architect or technical product owner role.

• Demonstrated excellence in communication

• Product architect experience in electrical or firmware engineering.

• Knowledge of battery physics and chemistry and experience designing with kWh sized batteries.

• Understanding of mechanical engineering physics such as boundary/force diagrams, stress/strain, 1D thermodynamics, and basic manufacturing techniques (CNC, molding, laser cutting, and 3D printing)

• Knowledge of UL/IEEE/NFPA/ANSI standards stemming from NFPA 70 and related to ESS
