Our well-established public accounting firm in West Des Moines, Iowa, is looking for an experienced Senior Staff Auditor seeking advancement in your career. We offer generous compensation and a positive work/life balance.

Your primary responsibility will be to complete assurance engagements in accordance with firm policy while maintaining key client relationships. The right candidate has the knowledge and experience to supervise many aspects of an engagement.

  • Complete assurance engagements primarily in nonprofit, construction/real estate and manufacturing industries.
  • Assume responsibility for assurance engagements by reviewing staff workpapers and conclusions, and present findings to more experienced colleagues.
  • Build a thorough understanding of GAAP, GAAS, OCBOA and common audit procedures & techniques.
  • Enhance existing client relationships.
  • Recognize opportunities to provide additional services to existing clients.
  • Actively participate in appropriate continuing education to meet state and firm requirements.
  • Bonus eligible!

Competitive Candidate Profile:

  • 4+ years of public accounting experience
  • Experience in multi-person engagements
  • CPA designation
  • Experience in nonprofit, construction/real estate or manufacturing industries or similar
  • Possess technical knowledge sufficient to supervise staff accountants
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills
  • Professional demeanor

What You'll Do: * Assist business units in the preparation of process documentation and risk assessments for moderately complex Sarbanes Oxley (SOX)/Model Audit Rule (MAR) processes. * Perform testing to evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of controls in such processes. What Does It Take To Join Our Team: * Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 3 years relevant experience in areas such as accounting, auditing, or insurance. * Professional designation preferred such as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA). * General knowledge of the internal control provisions of Sarbanes/Oxley (SOX) and Model Audit Rule (MAR) preferred. * General knowledge of insurance company operations preferred. * General knowledge of business process controls and information technology business application control procedures preferred. * Problem solving, analytical, and organizational skills to handle moderately complex reviews is required. * Able to maintain strict confidentiality, have good decision making skills, and meet target dates. * Adaptable and have very good time management skills to successfully meet internal deadlines. * Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. * Minimal travel is required.
