Title: Senior Staff and/or Senior Accountant Location: Hybrid/Remote – Alexandria, VA Salary: $100,000 + bonus Job Type: Permanent Other: Unanet is requiredAs a Senior Staff and/or Senior Accountant, you will play a crucial role in the financial health of our organization. You will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks, including but not limited to payroll processing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, financial reporting, and supporting the month-end close process. This role offers the chance to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, analyze financial data, and contribute to the overall success and strategic growth of the company. Responsibilities:
Generate weekly, semi-monthly and monthly AR invoices and submit them to the customers, IPP and WAWF systems.
On a weekly basis, reconcile billable employee timesheets between customer and OneZero timekeeping systems and quickly resolve reconciling differences.
Set up new hires and vendors in the Unanet accounting system.
Process AP vendor invoices and weekly ACH and check run payments in Unanet and online banking system.
Monitor credit card usage and reconcile transactions against submitted expense reports in the accounting system.
Monitor A/R aging and the collections of past-due aging balances.
Perform bank reconciliations by daily recording customer payments and all other cash-related transactions.
Record periodic and monthly journal entries, including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accrued expenses and other liabilities.
Assist with month-end close, including the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
Monitor timesheets and process bi-weekly payrolls to ensure timely/accurate employee payments.
Prepare payroll distribution postings and journal entries, including 401k.
Submit bi-weekly 401k contributions
Manage periodic payroll related tax filings, annual W2s and 1099s.
Set up new projects in Unanet and ensure projects are updated for all changes and contract modifications.
Perform other projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must have at least 3 years of recent and relevant Unanet experience
3-5 years of proven experience in a similar role, preferably in small to medium sized government contracting companies.
Experience preparing and processing payroll for companies with 100+ employees in multiple states highly desirable
ADP experience highly desirable
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration desirable
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Ability to effectively meet scheduled and ad-hoc project deadlines.
Demonstrated quick study and self-starter competencies.
