Overview

Oakview Group is looking to fill the role of Senior Staff Accountant at the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell. The position will assit to monitor, control, and audit all financial transactions, and to perform a full range of professional accounting duties involved in fiscal management, record keeping, reporting, and financial analysis of the facility.

This role will pay a salary of $60,000 to $75,000.

For FT roles: Benefits: Health, Dental and Vision insurance, 401(k) savings plan, 401(k) matching, and paid time off (vacation days, sick days, and 12 holidays).

About the Venue

The Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell is one of Massachusetts finest venues providing quality entertainment for all ages. The Tsongas is home to the NCAA Division I UMass Lowell River Hawks Hockey and Basketball teams in addition the Boston PWHL and the Massachuettes Pirates football team.

In addition to exciting UMass Lowell Athletics action, the Tsongas Center hosts concerts, family shows, sporting events, trade shows and conferences. Some of the world's biggest stars have performed before capacity crowds here in Lowell. We can seat 6,500 patrons for hockey and up to 7,800 for concerts without losing the intimate feeling needed for a memorable experience.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Process and prepare accounts payable invoices.

  • Verify & post entries to general ledger accounts.

  • Detail processing for accounts receivable and collection calls for outstanding payments.

  • Process Box Office ticket reports and record transactions.

  • Assist with month end closing procedures.

  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts.

  • Assist with payroll processing.

  • Perform analysis of accounting records.

  • Assist with employee record maintenance.

  • Perform related professional accounting work in support of accounting functions.

  • Examine and verify a variety of financial documents and reports.

  • Prepare a variety of financial statements, reports, and analyses.

  • Assist with month end closing

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent math skills; high aptitude for figures.

  • Analytical skills.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Capable of working with all levels of management.

  • Advanced oral and written communication and interpersonal skills and organizational ability.

  • Ability to work with and maintain highly confidential information required.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.

  • Ability to work flexible hours in addition to normal business hours.

  • Must have professional attitude and appearance.

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have extensive knowledge of accounting software, MS Excel, and MS Word software.

  • Knowledge of accounting software, such as Sage 100, preferred.

Education and Experience

  • 5+ years' experience in public accounting and/or finance.

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

  • A Bachelor's or working towards a degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting or finance.
