Today, there are nearly 30 games available for purchase, an exclusive Exploding Kittens mobile game for Netflix subscribers, a free-to-play app, Kitty Letter, and an Exploding Kittens mobile app available iOS, Android, and Nintendo Switch as well as an animated Netflix series titled 'Exploding Kittens' in production.
Exploding Kittens is seeking to hire a driven, agile, and technically strong Senior Staff Accountant who is passionate about accounting operations and driving process improvements. This role requires excellent communication, strong knowledge of accounting principles including GAAP, organization, and ability to manage and work with various cross-functional teams. In this role you will own key operational processes and systems including revenue, procurement, cost of sales, operating expenses, monthly close, financial inventory, and consolidation reporting and will report to the Director of Accounting.
HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE:
Manage and support team on accurately recognizing revenue for complex A/R structures
Perform the general accounting functions related to Co-Ops, Commission, Royalties, and Discounts, including executive level reporting
Manage revenue recognition process ensuring compliance with all systems, validate all system transactions and produce required reporting
Perform the general accounting function, which includes, complex journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and balance sheet management. Perform the month, quarter, and year-end close procedures
Manage complex data analytics and reporting
Work cross functionally with Sales and Logistics to ensure accuracy within Revenue, Cost of Sales and Inventory functions
Assist in external audits of company financial records
Assist in the compliance for Federal and State tax reporting requirements (including income, property, sales and use, and other local taxes), insurance reports and other reports required by government regulation; assist in compliance for international VAT/GST reporting requirements (Avalara software a plus)
Collaborate across departments to improve controls that impact financial reporting including refining processes, policies, procedures, documentation, and information systems
WHAT WE NEED:
4+ years of relevant accounting experience
A BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
Experience with accounting operations and monthly accounting close
Demonstrated ability for attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to leverage technology to build scalable processes, gain efficiencies, streamline accounting operations, and improve outcomes
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions
Team player with proven ability to take initiative, multi-task, work efficiently, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated ability to form, lead and develop high-performing teams
Based in CA or MI

$85,000 - $95,000 a year
This salary represents a range for the position and will ultimately depend on the individuals' qualifications and years of experience, location, and is subject to change.
