Job Summary:
The Sr. Staff Accountant plays a vital role in ensuring the organization's financial health and supporting strategic decision-making. You will be a highly collaborative and results-oriented professional responsible for a wide range of accounting activities. This includes overseeing the entire accounting cycle, managing financial reporting, analyzing financial data, and partnering with the Controller to provide insights for informed business choices. You will also act as a key contact for external auditors.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Duties/Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
Oversee the entire accounting cycle, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement).
Partner with the Controller to identify trends, analyze financial data, and generate insights to support informed business decisions.
Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
Account Management & Internal Controls:
Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard financial assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP).
Manage accounts payable and receivable, including processing invoices, managing collections, verifying and completing payments, and ensuring proper account coding.
Reconcile bank accounts monthly and address any discrepancies.
Manage the purchasing and invoicing system, ensuring efficient and accurate processing.
External Audits & Tax:
Serve as a key contact for external auditors during annual audits, gathering and providing necessary information and documentation.
Assist with preparing and filing tax forms for federal, state, and local government agencies.
Technology & Other:
Manage and maintain the Intaact software system, recommend and implement software updates, and coordinate with vendors for support.
Maintain a strong working knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and best practices.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Adept user of Intacct, our cloud-based accounting software.
Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
Ability to correctly prepare tax reports.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related field, required.
At least three years of related experience required.
