Senior Staff Accountant

Job Summary:

Arlo Chicago, a leading hotel in the hospitality industry, is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join their dynamic accounting and finance team in Chicago, Illinois. This individual will be responsible for managing daily accounting tasks, preparing financial reports, and analyzing financial data to ensure the hotel's financial health. This is a full-time, individual contributor position with a competitive salary of $60,000 per year, paid biweekly.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements

• Conduct monthly and yearly financial close processes

• Reconcile bank and credit card statements

• Monitor budget variances and provide analysis and recommendations for improvement

• Ensure timely and accurate payment of all invoices and expenses

• Assist in the development and implementation of accounting procedures and internal controls

• Work closely with other departments to ensure accurate recording of financial transactions and adherence to policies and procedures

• Assist in the preparation of tax returns and regulatory filings

• Provide support during annual audits

• Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the hospitality industry

• Strong knowledge of GAAP principles and financial accounting standards

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software/systems

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic

Must have previous hotel experience.
