Senior Staff Accountant

This is a hybrid role requiring an onsite presence 2x/month.

The Senior Staff Accountant works with financial management to perform monthly accounting functions, maintain financial records, and to implement improvements to department processes.

Using established accounting procedures, this position performs a variety of well-defined accounting duties including preparation of journal entries and preparation and analysis of financial reports along with a number of account reconciliations. In addition, (s)/he may be selected to be the Finance lead on cross-departmental projects.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Responsible for all journal entries, monthly account reconciliations, and transactions for assigned accounts.

• Responsible for the timely creation and verification of monthly general ledger entries.

• Manages MassHealth Accountable Care Organization transactions and reporting.

• Works with senior finance staff to review financial documents and perform income and expense analysis.

• Maintains records for financial audits and prepares audit schedules.

• Reports to the Accounting Manager and collaborates and consults with outside contracted affiliates (i.e., Mass Health, Providers, DOI) and various departments within the organization.

• Partners with the Accounting Manager to discuss the financial impact for certain journal entries.

• Helps mentor and lead more junior staff.

• May lead project teams and supervise the work of others.

• Hold self and others accountable to meet commitments.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in accounting, business administration or related field

• 5-7 years of experience in accounting and financial analysis.

• Master's Degree in accounting preferred.

• Healthcare/Insurance experience preferred.

• Intermediate excel skills required.

• Experience with various financial systems including Workday preferred.

• Must be multi-task oriented, organized, able to set priorities, and meet deadlines
