JOB SUMMARY:

Architects, develops, and implements architecture for our Splunk environments and serves as a Senior Splunk SME. Provide Linux Server support, design, and development for customer and mission critical systems. Collaborate with Clemson teams and ensure compatibility with backend systems and existing architectural directions. Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

60% - Essential

  • Infrastructure Engineering: Serves as a Senior Primary SME for Splunk. Designs and optimizes Splunk platform architecture for large-scale and distributed deployments. Implements and maintains Splunk platform infrastructure and configuration. Work closely with the Clemson Splunk admin team and Clemson Splunk Community on feature requests, update planning, and product roadmap alignment. Undertakes day-to-day Splunk operational and user support. Also serves as an enterprise Linux infrastructure engineer for Splunk environment, primarily as an administrator of multi-datacenter Linux deployments and related technologies. Serves as a Splunk technical resource. Assists in scripting automation tasks and as an administrator of multi-datacenter Linux deployments and related technologies. Serves as a technical resource.

20% - Essential

  • Infrastructure Development:

Develops and customizes Splunk and dashboards, and builds advanced visualizations especially managing and configuring Linux VMs. Researches, designs, develops, writes and tests new complex computer technologies and software, contributing to departmental research and development projects. Consults with project managers, analysts, programmers, administrators, other IT professionals on issues, i.e. system design, limitations and capabilities, performance.

10% - Essential

  • Systems Support:

Serves in on-call rotation. Follows industry standard best practices and CCIT policies and procedures.

  • Trains and advises less skilled systems administrators and provides expert technical assistance for others. Serves as an engineering liaison between teams and departments. Determines best practices and appropriate architectures.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and experience in computer system development and modification. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

Work Experience:

  • Experience in Linux Server Administration. 2 year Splunk or ELK experience.

License's & Certifications:

  • RHCA or RHCE or equivalent Linux administration certificate preferred

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with Linux operating systems. Ability to troubleshoot and optimize Linux-based systems.

  • Strong experience with one or more cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Knowledge of cloud services, server less computing, and containerization.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Expected Salary Range: ($ 66,892.00 - $ 90,000.00)

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

Essential Level 2 employee

Required to maintain/resume essential support functions, deliver direct care services, and/or provide recovery support before normal operations resume. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
