As a Senior Specifications and Building Detailing Architect in Portland Oregon, you will have the chance to be involved in the design of facilities and structures for our clients requiring advanced techniques. Working with other members of our team, you will perform conceptual, layout, and detailed design tasks; and coordinate design and construction activities, studies, and various analyses. During your time with us, you will also have the opportunity to provide technical guidance and supervision to designers/drafters and less experienced architects.   • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Master's degree from accredited Architectural program required.

  • 10 to 15 years Architecutral practice Experience

  • 10 to 15 years experience in specification writing and editing

  • 10 to 15 experience in building detailing

  • Licensed Architect required.

  • Experience with building codes and specifications required

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Experience with Sketch up, Adobe Suite and InDesign preferred

  • Revit experience preferred

VIEW JOBS 11/14/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-12T00:00 The Position The The City of Portland's Office of Management and Finance Facilities Division is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Supervisor to join our team. This recruitment will remain open until 75 applications have been received or until the posted closing date, Friday, December 14, 2018, whichever comes first. Effective December 2018 the City of Portland will adopt a new classification and compensation structure, adjusting the pay range of this role to $63,336 - $105,373 annually. Under the new structure this position will be classified as a Maintenance Supervisor I. The Facilities Division manages over 4 million square feet of City owned assets valued at over $500 million with an annual operating budget of over $14 million dollars. The Facilities Division includes Dispatchers, Maintenance Technicians, Utility Workers, Project Managers, Engineers, Operations Managers, all under the direction of the Facilities Services Division Manager. Under the general direction of the Facilities Operations and Maintenance Manager, the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for maintaining and operating sustainable public facilities in a safe and efficient manner with a focus on customer service. The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor plans, directs, and evaluates the work of assigned staff and monitors performance against division goals. Supervisory responsibilities include recruitment, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions. Contract management includes selection following City of Portland procurement rules, oversight, and coordination. The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor functions as a technical expert, providing consultation and troubleshooting for maintenance and operations issues and works collaboratively with diverse stakeholders to assess, identify, plan, and fulfill maintenance activities. Typical Duties/Examples of Work * Plans, supervises and evaluates the work of assigned staff; collaborates with staff to develop, implement, and monitors work plans to achieve division mission, goals, and performance measures; participates in developing and monitoring performance against the annual division budget; supervises and participates in developing, recommends, and implements plans, policies, systems and procedures applicable to unit responsibilities. * Plans and evaluates the performance of assigned staff; establishes performance requirements and personal development targets; regularly monitors performance and provides coaching for performance improvement and development; recommends merit increases and other rewards to recognize performance; recommends disciplinary action, up to and including termination, to address performance deficiencies, in accordance with the City Charter, Code, human resources policies and labor contract provisions, subject to director and City management concurrence. * Provides leadership and works with staff to create a high performance, service-oriented work environment that supports the City's and bureau's mission, objectives and service expectations; provides leadership and participates in programs and activities that promote workplace diversity and a positive employee relations environment. * Plans, schedules, supervises and inspects the work of skilled and semi-skilled craft personnel engaged in the construction, alteration, maintenance and repair of City-owned buildings, structures, offices, facilities and associated mechanical and electrical systems. * Participates in the development and implementation of short- and long-term plans and specifications for projected projects. * Inspects buildings and facilities for needed maintenance and repairs. * Confers with City staff regarding work orders and service requests. * Plans and lays out jobs from blueprints, drawings, sketches or verbal instructions; maintains records of work performed in the form of blueprints, drawings and specifications; prepares drawings and specifications for assigned projects. * Estimates labor, material and equipment requirements for assigned work and projects; requisitions parts, tools, equipment and material for assigned work and projects. * Coordinates the work of the unit with other staff, work units and bureaus. * Responds to complaints or inquiries by phone or in person. * Ensures compliance of the unit's activities to pertinent codes, regulations and guidelines. * Works with staff to ensure the performance of predictive and preventive maintenance programs. * Inspects the work of City personnel and contractors to ensure compliance with City policies, guide-lines, specifications, standards and contract provisions. * Provides technical assistance to staff. * Responsible for carrying out the City's safety program for the work unit; ensures assigned personnel follow safety practices in work methods and procedures; educates assigned personnel on rules, regulations, codes, safe work habits and potential hazards presented by their work environment. * Maintains and updates written manuals and instructions. To Qualify The following minimum qualifications are required for this position: * Knowledge and experience applying the practices, techniques, tools and material used in the building trades, including carpentry, painting, electrical, HVAC and plumbing. * Knowledge and experience applying the federal, state and local laws, regulations and codes applicable to assigned areas of responsibility. * Knowledge and experience applying the principles and practices of effective supervision including evaluating performance of assigned staff in a union environment and developing a culture that attracts and retains a diverse work group. * Ability and experience establishing and maintaining effective and inclusive working relationships and delivering a high level of service in the course of providing maintenance services to a diverse customer base. * Knowledge and experience applying the principles and practices of budgeting, public procurement, contract management, and maintenance of public records. * Ability and experience analyzing complex operational problems, evaluating alternatives, and recommending or adopting effective courses of action.
