POSITION TITLE: Senior Special Programs Coordinator, Basic Needs Support Center

DEPARTMENT: Wraparound Services/Student Services and Enrollment Management

PRIMARY LOCATION: Fall River, with occasional travel to all Bristol campus locations.

REPORTS TO: Director, Wraparound Services

POSITIONS SUPERVISED: Student staff as assigned

POSITION STATUS: This is an MCCC full time, state funded, unit position with benefits.

SALARY: salary range $63,288 - $75,243 annually*

  • Labor Grade 5 - actual salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and in accordance with the MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which may result in a higher salary than the stated range. Please refer to the New Hire Tables in the CBA for more information.

STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

The Senior Special Program Coordinator, Basic Needs Support Center is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of systemic interventions and sustainable programs that assist students to address gaps in basic needs in a way that promotes dignity and minimizes marginalization. The Senior Special Program Coordinator advances and maintains relationships with campus and community partners in an effort provide comprehensive cohesive services, information, and programs to Bristol students. The Senior Special Program Coordinator meets with students, assesses needs, makes appropriate referrals, follows up with students, and tracks success. The Senior Special Program Coordinator also serves as the Single Point of Contact for Homelessness and Hunger, assists with the management of the Bristol Care Fund, manages the college food pantries, expands basic needs services/programs, creates and implements educational workshops for students, responds to students in distress, maintains appropriate records, and coordinates community resources for students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement a comprehensive Basic Needs Support Center program that assists students in addressing gaps in basic needs, including but not limited to food insecurity, housing insecurity and homelessness, transportation, childcare, health insurance coverage, utility assistance, short term financial support, chronic or persistent poverty, domestic violence, legal issues, and other unanticipated events in their lives.

  • Serve as the Single Point of Contact for Hunger and Homelessness within the college and in the greater community; represent the College on statewide committees and task forces related to Basic Needs services to students.

  • Serve as a member of the Care Team and assist with the management of the Bristol Care Fund

  • Provide referrals to and assistance accessing college and community support services and resources including but not limited to SNAP, MassHealth, WIC, Head Start, shelter assistance, and physical health care referrals.

  • Create and implement comprehensive food pantry and inclusive clothing closet programs that provide equitable access and service to students across all campus locations.

  • Collaborate with the Director, Student Engagement & Belonging to support the college's monthly Mobile Food Market program.

  • Conduct individual triage/case management; meet with individual students experiencing a wide range of basic needs security and access issues.

  • Collaborate with the Director, Wraparound Services to create and implement policies and procedures to best meet the basic needs of individual students and the broader student population.

  • Create and implement assessment tools to evaluate programmatic effectiveness.

  • Serve as a member of the Student Outreach Assistance and Retention (SOAR) Team.

  • Assist the Director, Wraparound Services to identify community service providers, build relationships, execute MOUs, and create ongoing sustainable partnerships to provide additional support services to students.

  • Work with internal and external partners to coordinate workshops pertaining to financial literacy, accessing safety net programs, understanding health insurance, free/low-cost legal services, tax preparation services, and other similar programs and services.

  • Plan, implement, evaluate, and market trainings, programs, and informational sessions in collaboration with campus and external community partners.

  • Utilize college systems including, but not limited to, Maxient and EAB Navigate to maintain accurate records and streamline processes.

  • Create and implement a student peer leader program to support the operations of Basic Needs.

  • Collaborate with the Office of Grant Development, the Development office, and the Bristol Community College Foundation to identify opportunities for grants; provide assistance as needed in the management of awarded grants and gifts.

  • Provide monthly and annual reports as needed related to grants, research, unit activities, and other unit programs and initiatives

  • Represent the College in external committees on issues associated with student basic needs.

  • Attend training/professional development opportunities related to responsibilities.

  • Demonstrate a sense of professionalism and consistently reflect Bristol's core values while interacting with members of the Bristol community.

  • Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, all required qualifications must be met by date of hire.

  • Minimum of a Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Education Administration, or other field related to area of assignment.*
  • Minimum three (3) years experience and/or training involving area of assignment, which may include student affairs, student services, basic needs programs, direct service programs, or community engagement.*
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience shall be considered.

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Banner Student Information Systems, DegreeWorks, Maxient, and a student success platform (e.g., EAB Navigate, Anthology, Starfish, etc.).

  • Demonstrated experience working in higher education, with a preference for experience working at a community college.

  • Experience working with basic needs support in a college setting.

  • Ability to speak a language in addition to English, with a preference for Spanish or Portuguese.
