About This Job

As the Senior Quality Assurance Specialist, you will drive the quality testing strategy to implement the project's defined and approved Quality Assurance plan. In addition to writing and executing test cases for a large-scale, multi-system project, you will help coordinate the testing effort among multiple development teams and ensure the project implements best practices at each stage of the SDLC.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens and able to pass a T3 background investigation.

Location

For this fully remote position, the candidate must be available to participate in virtual meetings via platforms like Microsoft Teams. Core hours are from 9 AM PST/PDT to 4 PM PST/PDT, Monday through Friday, with flexibility to support EST core hours as necessary.

As part of the remote setup, the candidate will collaborate with external project team members and Avum employees. Although primarily remote, occasional in-person meetings may be required, potentially including travel to government sites in Washington, D.C., and the Avum office in Agoura Hills, California

Responsibilities include

• Test and troubleshoot code using complex industry programs and practices to detect quality issues with code functionality and performance.
• Lead a team of contractor and government personnel in testing activities (i.e., Test Readiness Reviews (TRR), Regression Testing, Functional Testing, System Level Developmental Testing (DT), Cybersecurity Testing, User Acceptance Testing, Interface/API Testing, Integration Testing, Smoke Testing, Unit Testing, Performance/Load Testing, and Compliance Testing)
• Document and assess Test Entrance and Exit Criteria presented in TRRs.
• Review business and technical requirements to determine testing needs.
• Assist with risk and impact analysis, escalating issues that threaten the successful completion and deployment of the project’s releases.
• Consult with government QA/Test Lead, QA colleagues, project teams, and end users to ensure the application system, end-user, and compliance/regulatory requirements are met.
• Assists other teams with evaluating and integrating applications, environments, and processes for use in the development life cycle.
• Provide a measurable assessment of QA efforts, recommending process changes to ensure continued quality standards are met.
• Proactively communicate the project status, testing effort, impediments, and/or any specific tasks to project team members and QA leadership.
• Complete risk assessment and communicate results throughout the development cycle, serving as QA point-of-contact for pre-release signoff procedures.
• Create and maintain documentation related to organizational and project testing efforts (i.e., test plans, test cases, test results, traceability matrixes, etc.)
• Attend meetings as the Avum QA representative, collaborating with project team members and contributing to discussions with a solution-focused approach.
• Train and mentor more junior QA resources as needed.
• Serve as a backup to the Government QA Lead as needed.

Skills and Experience Desired

• 8+ years of experience in QA as a self-motivated member of a project team. Must be a self-starter, a strong team player with a solutions-focused mindset, and have experience working with Information Systems in complex architectures.
• 4+ years of experience leading a testing effort on an agile-based development project
• Experienced conducting Design of Experiments (DOE) in quality assurance (QA) to plan, conduct, analyze, and interpret controlled tests or experiments. (The goal is to record the experiment's data, including the factor settings and the corresponding responses, to facilitate meaningful analysis.)
• Experience collecting data using statistical methods to determine the relationships between the factors and the responses is required.
• Ability to quickly learn domain-specific processes for a Department of Defense (DoD) electronic Procure-to-Pay (P2P) environment.
• Industry-level expert in test planning, test case management, and defect analysis for various tech stacks (i.e., Java, Oracle, Appian, AWS, MarkLogic, etc.).
• Experience with testing software including Selenium, Cucumber, Postman, Micro-Focus UFT, and JMeter.
• Recent and relevant experience with identifying and executing functional and regression test cases needed to verify business and technical requirements of a variety of system components
• Ability to critically review project documentation and identify QA needs
• Ability to proactively identify and communicate ideas, issues, obstacles, and overall project status
• Experience coordinating resources, assigning workload, and compiling results within multiple sprint cycles.
• Experience implementing an Agile Testing Approach that includes using Agile Testing Quadrants.
• Familiar with working on projects using agile (specifically SAFe & Scrum) methodologies.
• Experience working with project management tools (i.e., Jira)
• Experience with relational database systems, including the ability to write basic SQL queries to support testing and data validation efforts
• Experience writing automated tests within a Selenium-supported framework
• Familiarity with continuous delivery (CI/CD) environments (Jenkins and AWS experience is a plus)
• Experience with performance and load testing
• Effective written and oral communication skills that encourage a team-focused, success-oriented environment.
• Strong communication abilities, encompassing both written and verbal skills, are essential. You'll collaborate closely with engineering and analyst teams, as well as interface effectively with government personnel.
• Self-directed with an ability to manage deadlines and prioritize effectively
• Desire to collaborate among project departments and mentor more junior resources as needed.
• Experience supporting the Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) Joint Interoperability Testing.

Educational/Work Experience

A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a curriculum or major field of study that provides substantial valuable knowledge in system development and is closely related to the work detailed above and/or in computer science, information systems, physical science, engineering, or mathematics–intensive discipline, or an applicable training certificate from an accredited training institution.

Salary

Starting salaries for this position range from $124,400 - $158,000 and are commensurate with experience. The position is full-time, salaried, with benefits.
