What is the opportunity?

As a Senior Software Engineer WCIF with RBC Wealth Management, you will partner across IT and with assigned business line(s) to assess, research, and analyze business, technical and system needs in order to resolve business systems issues by recommending technology solutions that meet sponsor/stakeholder needs.

What will you do?

  • Provides consulting services on new and strategic initiatives (medium to large of varying complexity)

  • Researches emerging trends/best practices and determines implications of proposed solutions on meeting business unit strategy

  • Develops feasibility studies and proposals for senior management and executive decisions on large complex projects

  • Together with Project Manager, determines best mix of development, interfacing applications, third party vendor solutions to meet business requirements and project objectives

  • Responsible for all aspects of joint development and assists with vendor negotiations

  • Provides input and co-ordinates with DBA in creating new and modifying existing database structures using different types of databases and recommending appropriate DB based on required functionality across multiple systems

  • Develops detailed plans and accurate estimates for the design, build, implement and stabilize phases of the project and manage detailed design phases for large projects/ programs identifying, tracking and resolving technical issues and ensuring solution meets sponsor needs and PLC deliverables

  • Provides direction, expertise, feedback, coaching and development to build the capability of more junior staff

What do you need to succeed?


  • Professional with experience on multiple projects with multiple interfaces and/or 3rd parties
  • 5+ years of experience with JAVA & MS SQL
  • Experience working with MDM tools & implementations (e.g. Informatica)
  • Knowledge of different programming languages (e.g. .NET, C++, HTML, Cobol, JCL)
  • Multiple platforms e.g. MVS, Internet, Client/Server and ability to select appropriate one to meet business needs
  • IT Standards, Methodologies, CMM & audit requirements, and middleware technologies (ex. MQSeries/Websphere, WXF, XML, .NET)


  • Experience with MongoDB preferred

This Senior Software Engineer will have the opportunity to impact our Field Nation product through creating and designing new features, delivering on the product roadmap releases, and working collaboratively across the organization to continuously build up our product. This person will play a significant role in scaling our fast-growing new product offering through experimentation and fast iterative development and delivery. This position will also offer the chance to work in a fast-paced, high growth environment where new innovative ideas are encouraged and collaboration is a must. This position is located in Minneapolis, MN. What You'll Work On: * Cutting edge technology SaaS solution hosted on AWS that enables today's and tomorrow's Gig economy. * Frontend built with React and Redux. * Backend built on PHP, MySQL and increasingly NodeJS based microservices, exposed via REST API * Components built and deployed using Docker containers managed by Kubernetes. What You'll Do: * Work closely with product management, UX and our customers to craft user focused solutions. * Architect and implement scalable, secure and reliable solutions. * Assist in preparing technical specs for development by other developers. * Bring fresh ideas on how technology can be used to solve big problems. What You'll Need: * Full-stack development experience of at least 3 years. * Strong background in PHP and understanding of MVC as well as service-oriented architectures. * Advanced knowledge of SQL (MySQL specifically is a plus). * Strong understanding of JavaScript – React experience is a plus. * Ability to write clean standards-compliant HTML and CSS.
