We are looking for an ambitious, talented, and self-motivated individual, who will serve as a Senior Software Engineer and help us define and build out our Desktop and Cloud based applications. In this role, you will be a key team member supporting Microsoft Windows based applications, internal .Net libraries, scientific algorithms and windows/web based services for Thermo Fisher's leading mass spectrometry solutions.

The role requires working collaboratively across the Technology, Product and Commercial organizations to ensure alignment towards business goals. In this role, you will build strong relationships with cross-functional team members and business stakeholders.

What will you do?

  • Key member of the software development team for all Thermo Fisher Life Science products.

  • Collaborate with software architects and engineers in the development of .Net Windows services, graphical data presentation, algorithm data mining and data handling, .Net communication layers and client-server interface designs.

  • Member of an interdisciplinary R&D team developing algorithms and production software for Thermo Fisher's' line of Life Science Mass Spectrometers.

  • Collaborate with Thermo software development groups, software product evaluation groups and other applications personnel to deliver complete and high quality software products to customers, especially Windows-based applications, according to agreed upon schedules and specifications.

  • Communicate effectively through email, phone and face to face with other software development groups, product evaluation and technical publications.

  • Effectively apply project methodology and standards.

  • Mentor other developers on technology, technical approach, project execution, and domain skills.

  • Work with Product Support Engineers to recognize and address any customer issues.

How will you get there?

  • Minimum of 5+ years experience developing commercial software, with experience with multiple complete software development product life cycles from concept to development and product testing and final release.

  • Strong organizational skills to work with cross-functional and international teams in defining project requirements.

  • Strong analytical skills and experience in one of the areas of biotechnology, bioinformatics, data processing/analysis or analytical chemistry.

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.

  • Motivated by working in a dynamic, flexible environment with minimal direction to find solutions.

  • Mastery of object oriented design and design patterns, and programming skills.

  • Experience with Microsoft C# programming language for back end services.

  • Ability to write asynchronous REST API service endpoints using Microsoft's WebApi2.

  • Experience with SPA JavaScript frameworks (AngularJS preferred).

  • Ability to design software and/or platforms used by other developers, and have supported those developers with the adoption of your solutions.

  • Experience translating customer requirements for the metabolomics, metabolism or bio-pharma markets into engineering designs

  • BS degree in software engineering or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AngularJS and Telerik Kendo UI controls.

  • Experience with a .NET dependency injection system for .NET (AutoFac preferred).

  • Experience with SignalR for real-time bidirectional event-based communications.

  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or other cloud computing platforms.

  • Experience with both relational databases and NoSQL databases like DynamoDB, MongoDB, etc.

  • Experience with Visual Studio and WebStorm or IntelliJ.

  • Have used Team Foundation Server (TFS) for source control and task management.

  • 3+ years of experience in an applicable business domain.

  • Familiarity with Test Driven Development and Agile software methodology.

  • Expert in developing commercial software products in a regulated environment.
