We are seeking a Front-End Application Engineer who is a hardworking, motivated, deadline driven individual to develop interactive web applications. Applicants should have at least 4 years of experience writing HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Expertise writing semantic, modular front end code using HTML5, CSS3, and best coding practices are a must. Understanding of the concepts of progressive enhancement, mobile first and future friendly design is highly encouraged.

You are responsible for

  • Creating the designs for new application features within your domain specialization

  • Balancing the needs of technical solutions while satisfying business needs

  • Acting as a lead in a functional area of the system to deliver quality results and solutions

  • Modeling behaviors to promote good engineering practices and consistent, predictable outcomes

  • Defining interfaces (contracts) between components and micro-services

  • Developing new and enhancing existing RESTful web services

  • Writing developer level tests (unit, component, etc.) to ensure feature quality

  • Leading cross-functional teams to find the root cause of defects

  • Promoting new features and user stories through the CI pipeline

  • Working with Marketing and Testers to ensure the quality and timing of new release deployments

  • Contributing technical knowledge and proficiency to program-wide initiatives

You are part of

Philips Sleep and Respiratory organization that generates more than a billion dollars a year in revenue. Our AWS-hosted, customer-facing application developed by this organization is critical to customers and is, in many instances, the deciding factor in the buying process.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Four (4) years or more professional experience building interactive and responsive web applications using web standard technologies

  • Demonstrable experience and fluency with Angular 2+ and AngularJS

  • Strong experience working with Restful APIs

  • Experience with HTML, CSS, and writing cross-browser compatible code

  • Experience with CSS frameworks (Bootstrap, Foundation, or Skeleton)

  • CSS pre-processors (LESS, SASS)

  • Experience with DOM manipulation

  • Familiarity with usability and accessibility best practices

  • Experience working in an agile environment

  • Exceptional knowledge of object-oriented design, including design patterns

  • Outstanding attention to detail and software quality

  • A passion for user experience and front-end architecture

  • Experience with and understanding of Git

  • Applying new technologies to solve difficult problems

Bonus Points

  • Experience with Karma and/or testing frameworks such as Jasmine, Mocha, or Protractor

  • Experience working with Node.js, Bower, Gulp or Grunt

  • Experience with CloudFoundry, Heroku, AWS, Docker or similar

  • Experience or familiarity with concept of continuous integration

  • Experience or familiarity with behavior-driven/test-driven development

  • Understanding of and/or experience with Java and Spring Framework

  • Cross-platform solutions like PhoneGap/Cordova a plus

  • User Experience (UX) analysis/design

  • Healthcare development background
