We are excited to consider a remote engineer for this role in the Pacific Standard Time zone. If you are not in the PST zone you must be willing to work within our normal office hours. Remote team members will be expected to work out of their home office and must have successfully worked as a remote engineer in their current or past position.

Your Opportunity

You will be at the heart of the teams supporting New Relic's infrastructure and will work on a team that provides load balancing solutions in our own datacenters as well as within our cloud partners' data centers.

What You'll Do

  • Build, maintain, and scale New Relic's load balancing solutions (both externally-facing as well as internally-facing) within our own data centers as well as those of our cloud platform partners.

  • Participate in an on-call rotation and bake stability into everything you do to ensure a healthy work/life balance for yourself and your team.

  • Bring your creative ideas to life during scheduled Innovation Time

  • Own and improve your team processes

  • Collaborate across functions, e.g. Product Management and Design to bring the best solution to market

Your Qualifications

  • You understand and have command of common load balancing solutions

  • You are excited, not scared, by very high throughput levels

  • You know when to deploy off-the-shelf solutions, and when something more bespoke might be required

  • You ship incrementally and often

  • You have a fundamental need to learn and grow in your work every single day

Key Responsibilities: As a SeniorLoad Balancing and Automation Engineer, you will bring your expertise to serve as a load balancing architect and engineer for our environment where a large portion resides on F5 Networking equipment, as well as VMWare NSX and AVI load balancers, including: * Support large enterprise network environments and provide solutions that support applications of all types (TCP, HTTP, UDP, FTP, etc.) to work on full proxy load balancers * Use understanding of all layers of the OSI model to diagnose complex issues related to network and application problems * Meet with application teams to design complex (layer 3-7 network) load balancing solutions and routinely apply broad knowledge of network-related processes and procedures to complete complex assignments * Partner with other network and engineering teams to solution load balancing infrastructure for Cloud and datacenter environments * Provide L3 operational support for production F5 Network infrastructure: Local Traffic Manager (LTM), Global Traffic Manager (GTM) and Access Policy Manager (APM) * Serve as a resource to others in the resolution of highly complex problems * Being that this is also a network engineering role, you will be responsible for providing advice, direction, and support to other associates on the team, and articulating customer requirements and explaining them to management and other team members Required Qualifications: 12 years relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 8 years with a Master's, or equivalent work experience; Experience to include: * F5's Traffic Management Shell (TMSH) operating system knowledge, and experience with F5's LTM and GTM firmware for version 11 , 12, and 13 * F5, NSX-T, and AVI load balancing experience, advanced knowledge * Cisco Systems Products (routers and switches); deep experience in monitoring tools (TCP decode, packet traces, Wireshark, and Fiddler) * DNS & DHCP experience, and BlueCat and/or Infoblox a plus * Network dynamic routing protocol expertise: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP; advanced experience in network performance, hardware and software, and network WAN technologies: MPLS, VPLS, IP SLA * Successful network-related problem resolution experience, including knowledge of network administration in diagnosing and resolution of network problems * Excellent communication skills verbally and in writing, good relationship building and team work skills * If working remotely, come onsite into Round Rock office twice/month as needed for projects Desired Qualifications: * Experience with Automation using Ansible Tower and other CICD tools (GitLab, Jenkins, etc.) * F5 Administrator experience and/or F5-CA Certification * AWS or Azure certification * BlueCat and/or Infoblox a plus * Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), preferably Routing and Switching Dell is an equal opportunity employer.
