Beckman Coulter Life Sciences' R&D is growing and needs intelligent, hardworking software engineers to join our team. You will apply modern development methodologies and new software technologies to create world class products. You will work with multi-functional engineering teams to develop new products and sustain existing product lines. You will leverage user-centered design tools to produce products that delight our customers. You will mentor and be mentored by your team members.

  • Gain experience with a broad range of software technologies and the ability to make technical choices objectively

  • Build relationships with peers across the business and use these relationships to drive innovation.

  • Actively track developments in the software community and incorporate them where appropriate

  • Provide recommendations to the organization for planning and technology

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop full stack software in a collaborative team environment.

  • Participate in all phases of new software development, including requirement specification, design, implementation, software integration, testing, and documentation required to meet company procedures.

  • Mentor junior software developers.

  • Execute quality assurance activities such as risk analysis, software deliverable technical reviews, and code inspections.

  • Recommend or implement software development tools.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in commercial software development.

  • Willingness to work with a broad set of software platforms such as .NET, Angular/React, cloud technologies, and learn new programming languages such as Scheme and Delphi

  • Demonstrated experience of grasping new concepts quickly, learning new skills, and most importantly applying those new skills.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate software and system design

  • Demonstrated analytical skills, problem-solving skills, and ability to work collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using web technologies (e.g. JavaScript, CSS, HTML5, frameworks such as Angular or React)

  • Understanding of functional programming (e.g. Scheme, F#)

  • Software development experience in the life sciences domain.

  • Experience in the development of medical devices and working knowledge of FDA Quality System Regulation.

  • Experience working on projects that involve both software and hardware components.

  • Modern software development methodologies including Agile and Scrum

  • Ability to work with customers to understand their needs and translate them into successful solutions

  • Understanding of Localization and Internationalization

  • Automated testing and automated software delivery pipelines

  • Continuous Integration experience

  • Focus on optimizing time to market while increasing quality

Responsibilities: * Responsible for the development and maintenance of projects though product conception, definition, design, documentation, release to production, and sustainment. * Serves as a point lead for relevant product development modules assigned. * Works collaboratively across engineering fields to define product architectures and ensure consistency of common technologies. * Designs and analyzes mechanical systems to achieve product specifications. * Develops component and system tests to validate performance of mechanical components which demonstrate manufacturability, compliance with CE EMC, and environmental stress. * Maintains existing products as required to meet safety, reliability, and customer expectations. * Organizes and actively participates in design reviews and project reviews. * Adheres to quality system requirements in the development of new products including all required documentation. * Understands Danaher Business System tools and applies to day-to-day work. * Ensures compliance to organizational policies, procedures and regulatory requirements. Qualifications: * B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering * 5+ years of experience designing and developing products. * Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills inclusive of tolerance analysis. * Ability to work independently and on cross-functional teams. * Strong CAD (SolidWorks), GD&T, Automated testing, and documentation Preferred Qualifications: * Familiar with ISO quality systems related to design control and product release requirements and audits. * Mechanical systems design and test experience in machine automation, robotics, liquid handling or laboratory instrumentation. * Experience with SolidWorks modeling of machined, sheet metal, and injection molded parts is desired. * Knowledge of ASME dimensioning and tolerance standards. * Mechanical design, modeling, performance analysis, and tradeoff analysis. * Materials and component selection for reliability and chemical compatibility. * Any experience with hands-on machining and bench fabrication a plus. * Rapid 3D prototyping experience is a plus.
