RH is seeking a driven Senior software engineer, Platform engineering to advance critical platform services like production infrastructure and release pipelines. The platform engineering team RH powers the platform that runs our ecommerce and several other critical services that support order fulfillment.

This role requires strong technical expertise and cross functional collaboration to deliver improved developer experience, continuity, security and observability. RESPONSIBILITIES: As a Senior Software Engineer on the Platform team, you will help build, improve and operate foundational platform services that underpin our ecommerce and other critical applications. Evaluate our container orchestration infrastructure and recommend improvements to the same to deliver continuity and scalability while optimizing cost.

Secure alignment with the platform team and engineering stakeholders on proposed improvements and execute them to generate desired outcomes. Operationally own the container orchestration layer and instrument appropriate observability for related components to drive incident response and recovery. Work with the security engineering team to ensure the container orchestration services are secure and compliant with established security standards.

Understand the interplay between core infrastructure and platform infrastructure and optimize for performance and continuity Work with the platform team to improve developer experience by ensuring frictionless pipelines and implementing developer tools, frameworks and libraries Influence enterprise architecture to drive adoption of best architectural practices/patterns with a strong focus on continuity Drive automation of platform team tasks to deliver velocity and value to the developers and SRE teams Mentor junior engineers on best platform engineering practices REQUIREMENTS: 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer working on platform services powering enterprise workloads/products Deep understanding of micro-services based distributed systems architecture with high availability Strong experience building, improving and operating container orchestration services like K8 for enterprise workloads at scale Experience running managed K8 services like EKS and/or own K8 env on AWS Experience shaping platform strategy to improve developer experience with a keen eye for automation Experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation a strong plus Knowledge of open telemetry framework and experience with real-time telemetry and tracing tools like Prometheus and Splunk Strong execution bias, can do approach, collaboration and compelling problem solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills About Us RH is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate against any applicant on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, marital status, age, disability, sexual orientation, military/veteran status, or any other status protected by federal or state law or local ordinance.
