CarGurus' Platform/Infrastructure team is hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Platform. The Platform plays a key role for CarGurus to operate at scale. We are modernizing our technology platform and are looking to define key architectural capabilities, guide development teams on their successful implementation, and ensure the stability, security and scalability of our systems.

What You'll Do

Building the most trusted and transparent automotive marketplace requires a performant, reliable, and resilient platform for our services.

Our Platform Reliability Engineering team applies industry best practices and principles to ensure service reliability and resiliency. Note, this is not an operations role, we expect you to treat operations as a software engineering problem and work to automate and re-architect away from toil. This allows time for you to work on the things that matter, such as:

  • Ensuring that our platform enables product teams to deliver high quality software with ease

  • Owning core platform services that are the foundations of our software ecosystem

  • Evolving our logging, monitoring and alerting systems to increase observability and transparency

  • Increasing robustness by automation of workflows, process improvements, and integrating modern toolsets

  • Participating in solving operational issues, helping us grow our Incident Response discipline

We're looking for the following: We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with 2 - 4 years of experience. Don't worry if you think that you don't meet all the qualifications here. The tools, technology, and methodologies we use are constantly changing. We value talent and interest over specific experience. * Experience designing, building, and shipping backend systems with multiple tiers, including API, caching, and data access layers. * Experience in, or strong interest in Machine Learning. * Experience with back-end technologies such as Python and Go. * Strong drive to learn, grow, and coach engineers to do the same. * Nice-to-have: experience in, or strong interest in A/B testing platforms. * Nice-to-have: experience with infrastructure technology, like AWS and Kubernetes. * Nice-to-have: experience with CICD platforms such as Jenkins, Travis or CircleCI. * Nice-to-have: experience in an Agile software development environment.
