Job Description Summary:
As lead Software Engineer, you will join and support the team of capacity analysts managing the capacity of PayPal site applications and services. Our product owners and operations team rely on our analysis and forecasts to ensure our customers have the best payments experience we can provide.
Your way to impact
Site Scale Analytics at PayPal forecast and manage the site capacity used by over 1700 application services. Our analytics engine executes to create the analysis and forecasting of capacity for these services. Accurate and timely forecasting of application service capacity requirements supports both the responsiveness and availability of our customer experience, as well as optimizing our compute consumption to manage costs. You will take lead on development, evolution, and support of the application set supporting these critical site operational characteristics.
Your day to day
In your day to day role you will
Take lead on engineering and strategic planning for the applications and Java code implementing our capacity forecast service
Collaborate with peer organizations and teams to gather requirements and provide solutions for key business initiatives
Engage with and support the capacity analysts working with our team
What you need to bring
Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 4 years of software engineering experience OR Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field with 7 years of software engineering experience.
Strong Java 8 and Microservices development experience.
Good hands-on experience in Oracle and MySQL RDBMS
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Creativity, problem solving skills, and flexibility to meet the needs of a dynamic and rapidly changing environment
