Microsoft's Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. The products our portfolio include Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. Within Azure Data, the big data analytics team provides a range of products that enable data engineers and data scientists to extract intelligence from all data - structured, semi-structured, and unstructured. We build the Data Engineering, Data Science, and Data Integration pillars of Microsoft Fabric.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our rapidly growing global team - Fabric SQL Data Warehouse team. Required/Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

o OR equivalent experience.

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

o OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

o OR equivalent experience.

• Experience with complex problem solving, systems level design, coding, and debugging, proficiency with data structures and algorithms.

• Track record of excellence in software engineering, including clean, modular design, coding, code reviews, testing, and devops.

• Experience with using big data, streaming, analytics, natural language processing (NLP), large language models (LLMs), Machine Learning (ML) (e.g., Spark, SQL, Power BI).

• Startup mentality to move and iterate rapidly, work across disciplines, effective communication and collaboration, growth mindset and focus on customers

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.

• Design, build and deliver world-class planet-scale Microsoft Fabric services to in collaboration with the members of the engineering team, product managers, partner teams

• Design, code, test, and operate applications and services that are performant, reliable, scalable, secure and responsible

• Deploy and maintain production services that customers trust and depend on

• Make engineering investments and build reusable components to ship faster with higher quality and consistency

• Proactively participate in design reviews, code reviews, bug/issue triages and support well-informed decisions towards business and engineering goals

• Work with customers to make them successful and understand their unmet needs
