Cloud Infrastructure Development Engineer

The Cloud Infrastructure Development Team was chartered as a result of the business decision to invest in common pan-print technology platforms in support of the new Print Digital Ecosystem. This significant business strategy is being led by Roz Ho's Print Software Platforms and Solutions organization. Our team is currently focused on building out the Infrastructure Platform in support of Cloud SW Solution development. The Infrastructure Platform will support common tools and processes in the areas of CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, Testing, Databases, Messaging, Monitoring.

This role is for a Software Development Engineer to join the core platform development team. The initial focus will be on understanding the full pipeline process, tools and technologies to act as a support engineer for new in-region solution/service development teams onboarding to the infrastructure platform. Ultimately, there is expected to be opportunities for this engineer to own core elements of the platform dependent on need, expertise and interest.

Responsibilities include:

  • Partner with team architects and developers to build expertise on the key capabilities and processes supported by the platform.

  • Facilitate onboarding and ongoing technical discussions with partner solution teams.

  • Provide guidance, training and documentation to partner solution teams.

  • Provide direct technical support for development engineers using the pipeline and other core elements of the platform (pipeline, test framework, deployment process, logging, monitoring, etc.)

  • Improve platform elements (code, documentation, process elements) in alignment with rest of the development team.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (CS or closely related degree)

Desired Experience and knowledge

  • Demonstrated SW development experience

  • Experience with web development/deployment technologies (e.g., HTML, HTTP, REST APIs, .NET, java, XML/JSON, Apigee, CI/CD, AWS, Containers, Kubernetes, Azure DevOps, etc.)

  • Cloud operations logging, monitoring, incident management (e.g., CloudWatch, Splunk, New Relic, VictorOps, StatusPage, etc.)

  • Progressive Delivery concepts and tools (feature flags, canary deployments, contract testing)

  • Strong teamwork/team building, leadership, communication, collaboration & partnering skills

  • SW development lifecycle, quality processes, agile development, SaaS

  • Proven problem solving & decision-making capabilities

The Senior Software Engineers primary focus will be on Computer Vision, Object Recognition, and Autonomous Navigation Systems. This position works directly for the Lead Software Engineer and collaborates with various manufacturing business units (Internal and External). General Job Duties: * General background in ROS -- I framework for use with AGVs. * Guide and support the development of AGV navigation software. * Lead and be the point of contact for various software projects. * Guide and support the development of device hardware / software to integrate into the AGV or AGV system. * Guide and support the development of middleware to interact with the AGV system. * Supervise the daily development and execution of software development services provided. * Effective code reviews and senior programming steering / direction. * Effective and continuous code merging strategies. * Study the competition (Seegrid, Kollmorgen, JB Webb, JBT, and others) for their functionality. Determine gap analysis and then close the gaps. * Coordinating the code architecture with Bastian Robotics, Mobile Robotics and Shuttle Robotics. * Innovative products engineered and effectively taken to market. Quality is the main goal. * Participates Software Development meetings as needed (stand-ups, planning, etc) * Assist in and further enhance our Training Program. * Other duties as assigned Qualifications: * Education: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (Masters Degree in Computer Science is a plus) with strong academic performance or equivalent experience. * Must have must have 3+ years real-time embedded control system experience * Industrial control systems experience preferred (for example auto, heavy equipment, marine, engine controls, locomotive, printer control, aviation, etc.) * Exceptional candidates will have strong development experience using an RTOS and/or ROS * Tool chain, continuous integration, automated testing, navigation development experience a plus * Experience working in Agile development teams * Management experience / MBA is a plus * Strong sense of customer service and good communication skills.
