Splunk Enterprise Security is an advanced SIEM built atop Splunk's data platform with lots of moving parts. We help thousands of clients as they protect their assets from cyber threats, all over the world. As a member of the team, you will help define the future of our next generation security offering by designing, creating, testing and maintaining products that directly support security analysts all across the world. You will directly influence the direction of our technology as well as mentor other members of your team.

In this role, you'll be able to meet customers as they share their experiences, get a first person view of state of the art Security Operations Centers, and collaborate with product management to define and craft new products that streamline analysts' investigations.

  • Achieve a deep knowledge of our product architecture, usage patterns, and real world deployment scenarios in order to better understand what solutions will bring value to our customers

  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, User Experience and members of our team to design and create comprehensive end-to-end user workflows

  • Keep product quality top of mind by extensively leveraging product and test automation throughout the product cycle

  • Work directly with engineers and product managers to refine and breakdown product requirements

  • Become well versed in Splunk's core technologies and processes as they apply to application development

  • Create, maintain and improve code with pride of ownership


  • 8+ years of relevant industry experience

  • Strong programming experience using languages such as Python, Go or Java

  • Familiar with backend application development frameworks such as Django or CherryPy

  • Proficiency with client side technologies (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS) and JavaScript frameworks/libraries (React, AngularJS) is a big plus

  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and provide mentorship

  • Self-starter, passionate and always looking for new ways to contribute to the team

  • Experienced with an Agile DevOps engineering environment that effectively leverages CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab, etc) is valuable

  • BS in CS/EE or equivalent

Key responsibilities * Program daily in Ruby, Rails, Node.js, AngularJS, Express and others. * Build out restful endpoints and lightweight aggregation layers. * Build out unit tests and other automated tests. * Build out new features and iterate on existing features. * Design and implement low-latency, high-availability and performant applications * Enable analytics via tag management and logs. * Help define architectures and design patterns. * Participate in code reviews. * Answer technical inquiries on code base and product * Lead the way with writing programmatic unit tests. Qualifications * Real world web and service development experience. * Experience with modern frameworks such as Ruby on Rails, node.js, Express and Angular. * Experience with web services API integration (Rest, JSON, XML). * Experience with HTML & CSS frameworks such as bootstrap. * Understanding of general user experience and UI design principles. * Ability to understand requirements and map to technical implementation. * Experience modelling domain data in service and storage layers. * Relational and/or NoSQL database experience such as MySQL, Postgres, Mongodb or Cassandra. * Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software design * Strong track record of shipping products * Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as GIT, SVN, etc * Experience with Docker * Experience with Amazon Web Services stack * Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. * Experience in mentoring and leading other Engineers * Computer science degree or equivalent academic or professional background.
