Emerson Electronics & Solutions is looking for a Senior Agile Engineer who is passionate and enjoys developing code. We're looking for someone that can code and dive into infrastructure as necessary. This person is responsible for the entire software lifecycle. Responsibilities will include translation of the UI/UX design wireframes to actual code that will produce visual elements of the application. You will work with the UI/UX team and bridge the gap between graphical design and technical implementation, taking an active role on both sides and defining how the application looks as well as how it works.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

  • Develop new user-facing features with responsive design front end development.

  • Build reusable code and libraries for future use

  • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs

  • Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability

  • Assure that all user input is validated before submitting to back-end

  • Develop automated UAT and Unit Tests

  • Visualization of scientific data time series and information tagged to geographical coordinates

  • Ability to provide input into database schema development to ensure rendering efficiently

Requirements

Software development using the Agile methodology

  • Comfortable translating business requirements into a design. Interface with personnel in various departments to gather software requirements, testing and verification/validation of software.

  • Has shipped at least one commercially used software product.

  • Participates in product support (e.g. on call if necessary)

  • Has a decent approach between getting the job done vs technical debt.

  • Can explain and communicate technically complicated and abstract topics to business and product teams effectively

Technical Qualifications:

  • Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript

  • Proficient understanding of one or more of the following frameworks: Bootstrap, JQuery, AngularJS, ReactJS

  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git, SVN

  • Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX

  • Good understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.

  • Working knowledge of C#/Java, SQL

  • Working knowledge of IDEs like Microsoft Visual Studio, Eclipse

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure, creating graphs/reports using PowerBI

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent; MS preferred

  • Overall software development experience 7 years

  • Has shipped multiple commercialized products

  • Experience in related fields, e.g. machine learning, data science, big data

  • Experience with API development

  • Experience with IOS/Android native app development

  • Experience in automating CI/CD pipeline

The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for the design, development, testing, and operations of applications critical to the business.
