Job Description
DDN is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer to assist with feature design and development of DDN's RED Product. Interested candidates must have a strong background in the design and development of distributed high-performance computing systems and high-performance storage systems. Candidates must have strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent organizational skills.
Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:
Designing and developing features for DDN's RED technology
Clearly documenting all aspects of your work
Communicating effectively with coworkers
Effectively managing your time on the projects assigned to you
Providing regular reports on your project progress to team members and supervisors
Qualifications for this role include:
BS or MS or Ph.D degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
A reasonable level of fluency in English
Minimum 10 years of software development experience including a strong background in the following skills and areas:
C/C++ software development for Linux / UNIX computing environments
Design and development of multi-threaded, distributed, High-Performance Computing (HPC) system software and / or middleware
Software version control systems
Software unit testing frameworks
Writing system tests or automation scripts in Perl, Python, or shell scripting languages
Profiling and debugging I/O and CPU performance bottlenecks at various scales (per-socket, per-node, and cluster-wide).
Experience developing software using:
Low-latency, high-bandwidth High-Performance Computing (HPC) networks
Parallel file system solutions (Lustre, GPFS)
SCSI and block storage controllers
Object storage systems
NVM storage technology
The ideal candidate has knowledge of and experience using:
HPC application programming models
Memory mapped IO programming models (mmap)
Event-driven programming models
Lock-free programming concepts
Distributed key-value storage systems (memcached)
Common HPC I/O interfaces and libraries (POSIX, MPI-IO, netCDF / PnetCDF, HDF5)
Linux kernel internals
Agile software development
Test-driven software development
